Question about Blue Bell ice cream

We were so happy to see Blue Bell ice cream back in our stores.

BUT . . . it doesn't seem the same. It used to be so rich and creamy. Now it seems more icy, like the cheaper brands. Melting before, it seemed milky. Melting now it looks more watery. Definitely not a change for good. DH noticed it at once when he dished some up, and no question about the change in consistency. Tastes about the same. We've only bought Homemade Vanilla so far. Anyone else notice this?

It seems the same to me, maybe you got used to a more premium brand while it was gone? Costco Kirkland brand ice cream is much richer and creamier than Blue Bell but it only comes in vanilla.

I thought I heard just recently it was pulled again - or they were fined again for listeria found at manufacturer again. I don't think I would eat Blue Bell - too many problems.

I'm in SC and still haven't found it in the stores. DH will be sure to inform me if it's changed if it comes back.

No listeria has been found in food. There has been some misreporting or misunderstanding by some people

Brenham, TX, January 8, 2016 - To keep our customers informed, we gave an update yesterday, January 7, 2016, on the progress we have made with our enhanced procedures in our production facilities. Unfortunately in some media reports this information has been misstated.

In our facilities, we have identified suspected areas where bacteria may be present but in no case have we confirmed Listeria monocytogenes.

The entire purpose of our enhanced environmental testing is to identify locations where bacteria could be found in our facility in order to properly clean and sanitize the surface and prevent contamination.

We have tested and will continue to test every batch of ice cream produced. No products produced have tested positive. No products are shipped to stores until tests confirm they are safe. We will continue to work closely with our regulatory agencies, as we have throughout this process.

Yes, read that as well. I wouldn't go near Blue Bell if they paid me. Dreyer's is welcome in our home any time.

Both DH and I had salmonella in the mid-70's and don't ever want to go through that again, especially since we're older now.

Yes, read that as well. I wouldn't go near Blue Bell if they paid me. Dreyer's is welcome in our home any time.

I wish people would check their facts before posting a bunch of garbage here. Not only has it not been pulled again but the company announced that they will begin distribution in Atlanta this week. I wish they'd hurry it to my area.

I'd much rather eat a product where every batch was tested than something like Kirkland whose source is unknown.

I' agree with you that it does not taste the same! Everyone I've said that to tells me I'm crazy. I was so excited when it was back in stores, but when I tasted it, it did not have the creamy texture and taste that it used to.

It's been here in AR for over three weeks and we have noticed no difference in taste or texture, but we don't ever buy vanilla. Maybe there has been a change in that flavor. Tastes as wonderful as ever.

The downfall in my life besides handbags......

organic Grass fed milk from a local dairy, fruit from local small sustainable farms...however even if it wasn't the Toasted Coconut Almond Chip is the stuff of dreams!! I have to have it shipped to me from Santa Barbara! Bad, Bad shoekitty
