$72.00 for 80 "Mini" meatballs? Are you serious? Who buys this? Do you know how much hamburger you could buy for $72.00?

Gourmet food prices are off the wall. Sausages,chocolate covered pretzels, lobster and the list goes on and on. I read reviews and some not so good.

It's not always about the hamburger. (And a meatball is more than just hamburger, anyway.) Sometimes it's about the time, skill, enjoyment of the activity, etc.

If it takes me time and effort to do something that I don't really have fun doing, I'll pay more money to get the thing using less of my own time and effort.

For that price I could buy the whole cow. I go my butcher and his prices, while higher than the grocery store, don't come close to the Q. I get top quality meat and make my own cheese stuffed meatballs and they are most definitely NOT mini. If people buy, the Q will sell. docsgirl

What gripes me is the cookies at the Mall. small oatmeal raisin cookies are like 3 for 6.00 something like that. I asked for the recipe one time they said they didn't know it themselves they just come in and they bake 'em. They run like a dollar or dollar and a half per cookie. Been awhile since I splurged on them. LOL

What about $80 for LESS than 2 pounds of lobster mac and cheese balls? Seriously? $40 dollars a pound for lobster with pasta and velveeta stuffing coated in panko. What a TOTAL rip-off.

The shopping channels, especially QVC, count on peoples' common sense flying out the door this time of year. In the fervor to have a magical Christmas, money is no object. They wake up in January when the bills roll in.

Did you see the prices on that seafood Captain Sig was hawking on Evine today?

I make meatballs (Italian family recipe)from butcher ground good steak cuts, pork veal and really good pepperoni. The cost is fairly high but worth it for me. After considering the cost and time invloved, $1 per meatball is a bargain!! Mea!tballs from cheaper meat can be good but I prefer great. The time and expense not a problem for me but not everyone is a good cook, likes or has the time to cook. Some will pay what i consider ridiculous prices for a handbaag to carry stuff in, costumer jewelry, boring clothing, etc. We all have things we are willing to pay for and others we are not.

I know if you use better ingredients, you get a better outcome.

I guess sometimes they figure at this time of the year, people are tring to find easier ways to accomplish things, so food is just one of them, and so they are willing to pay more.

I guess if you compare the prices to restaurant prices, they are a bargain.

If you compare the prices to cook-from-scratch prices, they are very high.

Dh and I have delicious meals on a very small grocery budget. On the rare occasion that I do eat out, I'm always shocked by the prices - especially things like pasta. I've ordered $17 pasta dishes that I know I could make in 30 minutes for $2 or $3. Compared to this, $1 meatballs don't sound so crazy.

The only food item that has ever tempted me was the lemon (cello ?spelling?) cake hawked by Frankie Avalon. It looks so good. Of course I look at the price and decline.

We are all free to buy what we choose , but even at today's prices of beef $72. would make a lot of meals spent at the grocery.

I know, when I see these prices sometimes, my jaw just DROPS.. I know they take time to make and I hope the ingredients are good, but 6 mini meatballs for $5 wouldn't fill someone up for lunch, that's for sure!

The one thing I know about money is that we can't spend someone else's even though I'd love to have that power sometimes. I just know I'd do a better job with it which really is what most of the posts objecting to this item/price are saying in my opinion.

It's not that I'm buying those meatballs because I'm not, but there are all kinds of ways to spend $72 that I'd prefer not to do. It's a value thing though, not just a money thing.

Well, I am one of those people who got the meatballs. I love meatballs, but rarely eat them.

Right now I am suffering from plentar fasciitis and I can tell you I am glad I have these meatballs in the freezer. Tried them last night and they were really good. Also, they are no more expensive then ordering takeout.

Remember food items include shipping costs. They are shipped for two day delivery which costs a bit more than $3.00-$5.00.

I've enjoyed all the food items I've ordered. Sometimes if you don't have the time to make them, having it delivered comes in very handy!
