Check out all the new colors in the updated version of WP’s much loved little rice cooker. It makes a great holiday gift and it is only $19.95 + $4.95 S/H today (probably for a few days – not sure how long).

I am a fan also. I own 2 and use them almost daily. A lot of items that are perfect for one or 2 servings and as good as making a huge amount /dividing up / then freezing forever.

I was thinking of a few people on my guest list for Christmas. The cook book should be a part of the gift package given also. So that is about 2xs the amount, but I found the cookbook very helpful.

I hear ya. I'm not even tempted. A friend has one, but she never cooks, so I don't bother to ask her how it works.

Actually, I have the rice cooker cookbook! Bought it for my BIG WP rice cooker, but found converting the recipes to be too much food for just DH and myself. And it never did a good job of cooking small amounts of rice so I got rid of it. I figure the little one will be just right.

I'd love to have one , but, I wouldn't want all those attachments and buy mine at kohls or bed and bath , cheaper.

I saw this was on sale and I know a lot of people here rave about it. I've never had a rice cooker but the size is perfect for me. Just not sure what I would do with it. I guess I'd have to get the cookbook to find out!

I bought my rice cooker from Wal-Mart at a cheaper price and it holds a little more than WPs. I use it a lot and it is easy to create your own recipes as long as you remember 1 cup of liquid to 1 cup of dry ingredients. I still may get that cookbook as it sounds like it has a lot of good recipes. The rice cooker cooks just enough for two people.

Every rice cooker I have ever owned (including this one) boils over and makes a mess on the counter. WHY???

I don't know why you are having these boil overs Reiki as it only happened to me once with oatmeal.

Quick question, since I cook just for me I make smaller portions. Is this happening to you when you make all size portions? Does it still happen even with say a small size of rice?

Also, do you rinse the rice before you cook it? Please note I don't usually but the couple times I did I noticed it seemed less "bubbly" if that makes sense.

I use mine a lot, and it never boils over. My guess is that you're using a bit too much rice and water. Try cutting back a bit.

Thanx all. I rinse my rice and follow instructions to the letter but I will try making smaller batches.
