I buy baby carrots for our Golden Retriever. I keep them in a Lock & Lock, covered with water, in the refrig. They last at least 3 weeks that way.

How long can carrots be left in water? I go through phases where I want to eat carrots and then the rest sit in the bag and dry out. It is so darn wasteful! Can I put them in water? How long will they last in water?

You can store them in water, in a covered container. Have to cut off the green tops, though. Sorry, I don't know how long, though I know root veggies will keep for a long time when properly stored. You can probably find better answers online by Googling your question.

i understand the OP's concern. Since there are just two of us, I found myself running into similar issues when I would buy a bag of crrots for a recipe only to have half of them go bad before I could use them all.

Finally, I started buying carrots individually. While they are more epensive than buying a bag or a bunch, it allows me to buy only what I need and reduce waste.

I use either the Lock & Lock containers that have the vented tray or Debbie Meyer's green bags for my fruit and produce. Either workds for me. tt really does keep them longer than in the original bags.
