To all my foodie friends! Knitting anyone?

Posting here instead of the Home section. It's a cold gloomy day here, had to turn the furnace on. AND, they are selling hats and scarves today!

Sooooo-I dug out my old Knifty Knitting round looms, dug out some yarn, signed up for Ravelry and Pinterest-Going to learn to loom or arm knit if it kills me.

I learned to knit when I was very young. I was fortunate that my best friend, who was also left-handed, was able to teach me. I enjoyed it, but I haven't done it for decades.

I learned to knit when I was in grade school and really like to knit. Right now I am knitting a baby afghan for my nephew and his wife.

I went to classes for knitting & crochet. Crochet seems easier to me, but I am bad at that, too. I do make kitchen wash clothes. They aren't big enough that I can mess them up too badly. I was thinking today would be a good day to get some yarn out.

This is my favorite time of year...always give something home made (usually knitted) to go along with purchased Christmas gifts. This year was going to be head warmers. Located a pattern I liked and purchaed yarn to make a dozen or so. Fast foward to this past Sunday and a fall down my stairs which resulted in multiple fractures of my hand and wrist, the result of which is a cast from mid-knuckle to just below my elbow. Doubtful I'll get many (if any) done between cast removal (Nov. 3) and Christmas gift giving.

Arm knitting is knitting on your arms, instead of needles. There is finger knitting, too. Check it out on YouTube. My friends are learning to do it. Some inventive people out there! Good for you, making a baby afgan!

I've been knitting for years. I'm not that good, but it's nice to do instead of just watching TV in the evening. I'm working on a baby blanket for my BF daughter's baby. My neighbor is pregs as well, so I've got my work cut out for me between now and late Feb. Happy Knitting to all

Shortly before we retired and moved to another state, I purchased gorgeous hand-dyed yarn sufficient enought for me to knit my first sweater using size 13 needles. What a disaster this turned out to be, as I was ill-advised at the shop where I purchased the yarn, should have used way larger needles and purchase about 50% more yarn. Still haren't figured out what to do with the yard. Cannot do another scarf, I don't wear vests because I'm short-waisted, but might consider a winter hat, if it's a good pattern, as we now live where we have 4 seasons. Keeping my fingers crossed I can find that hat pattern this year, just for that tre-expensive yarn.

Just made a couple slouchy hats with crocheted flowers to attach to them. Love knitting in the winter to help fill the long winter nights .

I never had a lesson, just figured out how to knit and crochet on my own a long time ago. That said, I've never made anything that needed a huge amount of talent. I'd always keep things easy with straight edges, meaning I never progressed beyond blankets, scarves, and dish cloths. The first project I ever completed was a big blanket for DH when we were dating. When I was subbing at our local high school, I'd take a project with me to work on during any downtime. One of the art teachers, who taught a fiber arts class, noticed and eventually knitting and crocheting was added as a unit in the curriculum.

Loved reading this!

I've been knitting for years and stick to mostly easy things - slippers, scarves, etc. I'm working on knitting a sweater for my dog now I also just finished a set of golf club covers.
