I'm looking for an indoor grill for two people that give great char flavor and works well. I have found an Oster that has ceramic plates and opens from a pannini maker to a 180 degree open grill for doing larger meals. It is $50 on Amazon.

Amazon Oster Ceramic Grill

I would like your thought and suggestions about purchasing one. I have a large griddle/grill for serving as a griddle function, but want something for quick sandwiches/veggies/meats without taking up the whole counter.

This may not be exactly what you had in mind, but I purchased an Aroma Grillet on Amazon for around $40. It grills, steams, and acts as a slow cooker, so it is very versatile. It does leave "grill marks" for the char you are looking for, and is super easy to clean up. I highly recommend it.

I have that grill from HSN too and use it a lot. I also have a $400 Breville that is wonderful but even though the plates are removeable, it's heavy, heavy, and still harder to clean so I find myself reaching for the other one. But the Breville cooks more like a grill.

It's a little pricey, but we love our T-Fal Opti-Grill. Completely foolproof with a sensor that judges the thickness and how well done you like your steaks (beeps and changes colors for rare, med & well). Has settings for burgers, red meats, sausage, chicken, fish, sandwiches and a manual control that I've used to grill asparagus. Also has a button where you can cook frozen items, which I've done with burgers and fish and it worked great. Grill plates/drip pan are removable and dishwasher safe.

Amazon has it listed at $180 (which I think is similar to the infomercial), but got ours at Walmart for around $150. I believe you can also get them at Kohl's and BB&B if you have Kohl's cash or coupon. Generally gets good ratings and there are several threads here available through seach.

If you want something quick that doesn't take up much counter space, you might just want to get a grill pan for the stove top.

You can get them in cast iron or non-stick. They range in price from $18 up (WAY up). Some come with a press for paninis or searing meats. When you finish using and cleaning it, it goes with the other pans and doesn't take up counter space.

I have a cast iron grill pan, but I don't want to use the stove because it heats up the house. I found the Aroma at Kohls with a ceramic coating instead of the non-stick. I'm pretty sure I'll use my Kohls cash on that! Thanks for the recommendation.
