I received ice cream, 2 day delivery

and it was frozen solid after its 2 day journey in 100 degree weather. I cannot believe it. I have been dreaming McConnels "Toasted Coconut and Almond Chip" ice cream from Santa Barbara. I chose 2 day delivery and it worked. It was actually so hard I had to let one pint sit for 15 minutes so I could put a spoon in it! LOL! Had to make sure it was fit to eat, right?

Has anyone else ever ordered ice cream online for home delivery? Wow! modern life has it's rewards for sure

Ooh, that sounds good. Is it pretty heavy on the coconut? You know how much I also love coconut.

I don't think I've ever ordered ice cream to be shipped. Glad it got there in good order. I love Santa Barbara!

So what - no cake to go with?

Before they started sellin Blue Bell in New Mexico, I looked in to having some shipped to me. It was prohibitively expensive so I nixed that idea. Eventually it came to me then left again.

Yes, CB it is heavy on coconut., as we demand!! You can see the toasted coconut, plus the base is made with coconut cream,and coconut milk. It is loaded with slivered, toasted almonds, and dark chocolate in these little slivers. The crunch of the chocolate and almonds, and that creamy coconut.base, and then pieces of the toasted coconut are devine..oh my! I also ordered Coconut Cream, Good Lord, does it get any better for coconut addiction???. Well, maybe some of that Smith Island Coconut Cake? I am hopeless. Hanging my head in happy shame

Yes, it is expensive for shipping.32 dollars, if I remember! The ice cream cost what I would pay at Whole Foods. But WF is 40 miles away. When I am down by WF, I drop in to shop and they are always out! Makes me so mad. That flavor they cannot keep in stock. It is only sold in pints too.

I threw caution to the wind, bit the bullet and just went for it. You have to order 6 pints for home delivery. I am stocked until Christmas. I was VERY curious how it would turn out. I know they have a money back guarantee, but I still was skeptical, lol!

It was rock hard solid, no kidding. Perfect. It left Wednesdays morning, and was delivered 3pm today. It only came 400 miles, but spent the night in 2 FedEx warehouses.

I heard Blue Bell is killer ice Cream. I have never tried it, but have heard the raves!!

shoekitty, I am laughing inside because 6 pints of a delicious ice cream would NEVER last here until Christmas. ummmmm, maybe Halloween. lol

Hahah and LOL! What I meant was I won't be buying any more until Christmas, not that it would LAST until Christmas, Hahah.

I can portion ice cream I don't care for or am not excited about for long periods, but if I love it like this ice cream flavor, I am toast. I added 2 flavors I don't care for, but my husband does. He loves the Meyer Lemon with marianberries! it is lemony! Like pure Meyer lemon! The berries in are good too. But I am not a lemon ice cream person! Hahaha. well, we will seee, after my flavors are gone, his might look good!

McConnell's is the best ice cream. When I ate ice cream regularly, that was the one I preferred. I loved their Eureka Lemon with Marionberries, their Turkish Coffee, and their Peppermint Stick. Luckily my Whole Foods is only about five miles away. They never carried all the flavors though.

I do know they are at select stores in California only. Whole Foods and New Leaf Community market. I think since they are a specialty item, maybe they would not do well in big markets yet? A little pricy? I think I pay 6.99 a pint at whole foods on sale. However, I heard they were planning to ship all over. In the stores they only do the pints, and have a selection of 5 flavors or so.

They do use organic and specialty ingredients.

I used to order Graeter's ice cream occasionally. I love their raspberry chip. Kroger carries it now locally, so I don't have to order it. It was always delivered perfectly, too.

I know ID...who'd a thunk it? Honestly. Even with the guarantee I was so leery. But it worked. The ice cream frozen solid! More forzen than when I buy it at the store. It is costly. Not for the ice cream that is the price I buy it in stores, but for shipping. They do have half off sales I see on seasonal flavors. If one orders that, then with shipping it makes the total cost same as grocery store.

I do agree..one has to have a hankering big time to order ice cream mail order!! LOL!

No, not yet! Or I would be all over it. I have noticed lately Raleys has started carrying many Whole Food specialties, Like Alden's (this is excellent), Twin ?, Strauss orhanic and a couple others. This is encouraging. I think I will email Raley's to look for this brand, and try to carry it!
