Purple marks on arms

I think they are bursted blood vesels under the skin,any thing that will fade them?

I fell last week while my arm was stuck between the footboard and mattress....deep purple and red marks around my whole forearm...they have started to fade slightly. So, time will fade them if they are bruises.

If not, you may want a dermatologist to check them out.

My Niece swears by Arnica Cream for bruises. She gave me a tube when I had a fall and was badly bruised. I think it works but not on everything it claims to help.

Mom would get them sometimes, we never heard of anything to get rid of them, they go away when they go away @goldensrbest

My mother used to get purple marks on her arms. They were caused by the medication she was taking.

As we get older our skin thins and these marks come,easily with any bump or scratch. Another "perk" for seniors.

It's called senile purpura. Much of it comes from when you were younger and exposed your skin to the sun. That starts the beginnings of weak blood vessels which only get more fragile with age and eventually break open causing the purple bruises. Not much you can do now except wear sunscreen and be aware of anything you do that can traumatize the skin b/c it's so thin now.

Yes, i had so many bad sun burns,especially during teen years,trying to get a tan, plus as a kid i never had any sunscreen,i don't know if it was available.

Started happening to me about a year ago. Sometimes I just bump something and a few other times it was just there. I have found that gently rubbing the area as soon as it happens or you see it kind of spreads the blood around..........you might not see it immediately but it dissipates much faster if you can spread it out a bit.

I am finding I bruise more these days--often I have no idea what I bumped into--most don't hurt and I only see them when they turn that lovely shade of green- yellow with a magic touch of purple😗

Rub in twice a day. Results in about 3 days. Don't give up.

Aspirin may not be a traditional blood thinner like warfarin but it does affect how the blood clots and aspirin will prolong bleeding time. Aspirin makes certain parts of the blood less sticky so it takes longer to stop bleeding b/c the clotting is less sticky.

I can't remember where I saw it but a derm suggested using Vitamin C cream on your arms.

I don't think we had sunscreen available when we were kids. But we did have baby oil, can't believe we used that.

One time my best friend and I sun bathed and I was also taking tetracycline which causes photosensitivity.

Got 2nd degree burns. Luckily my mother was an RN and helped us out. We were two knuckleheads in our first apartment at 18 years old.
