MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) today announced that beginning in February, guests will find the retailer's largest-ever Spring beauty assortment in stores nationwide and on Target.com. Curated by Target's beauty team, the assortment is paired with a fully refreshed store experience and in-store beauty events.

"Beauty is incredibly important and deeply personal to our guests, so our team has worked with beauty powerhouses and small, innovative, emerging brands alike to bring thousands of new products to the mix," said Amanda Nusz, senior vice president of merchandising, essentials and beauty, Target.

"We ended up with a Spring beauty lineup that reflects what guests are looking for right now — exciting new discoveries, Target‑only exclusives and prices that feel good. And we've freshened up the in‑store experience, too, so finding a new favorite feels easy and enjoyable."

Trend-driven assortment

Target's insights show that expert-backed products and high-quality ingredients matter to guests. Target's merchants used those insights to build a distinct assortment that gives consumers a wide variety of choices, with more than 90% of items under $20.

Here's how Target is bringing top beauty trends to life:

Prestige vibes at accessible prices: More guests want an elevated, editorial‑beauty look, but in a way that feels effortless and accessible. Target is bringing prestige-inspired beauty within reach, introducing popular brands like Morphe cosmetics, exclusive-to-Target brands like Ontu and new offerings from Minimalist and GoPure for beauty that delivers without the luxury markup.

K-beauty: Target's largest K‑beauty expansion yet includes cult favorites and emerging innovators across skincare, makeup and haircare. Guests will find Dasique's fruit- and floral-inspired makeup, The Crème Shop's colorful packaging and complexion basics, I'm Meme's playful, multi-use makeup, haruharu wonder's antioxidant-rich fermented ingredients, Elizavecca's high‑performance actives and Kundal's fragrance‑forward haircare.

The Target store near me is always a disaster, especially the beauty section. Every time I go in the that store for anything, I always ask myself "why did you bother coming in here" and I walk out with nothing. Maybe they will turn things around.

When Target first expanded their meager beauty section years ago, the store closest to us hired a beauty advisor who was always in that section. It was always neat and clean, and she was helpful. I tried some Sonia Kashuk products and liked them.

After the pandemic everything changed. The beauty advisor was gone. Everything was a mess, with testers either gone or in bad shape. I haven't bought anything from the beauty section since.

After reading this I am hopeful!

I pretty much stopped shopping at Target. The store closest to me got rid of all men's fragrance and most womens.

While the SoHo concept looks nice, how much will get locked up in a case?

@Snowpuppy - While I understand why stores are locking things up, it is a true PITA. Most of the time I can't find a salesperson or they are busy with someone else and there are a number of people waiting. At that point, I give up and walk out.

I was taken aback in a good way when I read the names of the beauty brands that will be offered soon at Target. I like shopping the physical store to look at new, try on or swatch, but I do most of my shopping especially reorders online for ease and the convenience of delivery to my door. Also no physical store including dedicated beauty stores like Sephora and Ulta have the wide range of colors or options as they do online.

Ulta didn't pull out, it was a mutual decision.

Appears that Target worked diligently to develop their own independent and wider beauty offering, and kicked Ulta to the curb. Instead of the expense to have Ulta in their store, they can now be a bigger competitor to Ulta and Sephora. They don't need Ulta. None of my Ulta purchases were made at Target. I shop both stores independently.

An excerpt from another press release: "This commitment to the beauty category follows Target's decision to end its five-year partnership with Ulta.The two companies mutually agreed not to renew the Ulta Beauty at Target shop-in-shop concept when the current agreement concludes in August 2026."

There are 2 Target stores near me that I shop. One is newer in a newer development of more upscale homes and rentals. It's a nicer store than the other older one. I think the newer stores have advantages than the older stores because they have been designed and built with more advanced information and for conveniences.

And both have locked up aisles/products. But this is the case for other stores like Walgreens, CVS, even the liquor sections of some large grocery stores. So does Costco.

I've observed that at some TJMaxx stores as well, certain common name brands (CosRX, Bare Minerals, Clinique), all in a locked case. Forget about reading an ingredient deck or shade name. 🤦‍♀️

So many stores do as well. I've seen TJM in various areas of the country and it's incredible what some locations get, and then the other get the bottom of the barrel.

Target may be expanding their offerings but from what I can see, checking on their website, the pricing isn't all that impressive. For those who know how to shop and watch for sales, they can do better elsewhere.
