Textured old eyelids

I have textured droopy old eyelids. Powder eyeshadow doesn't seem to work anymore. Maybe it is the brands I have. I seem to do better with a stick shadow. I have Thrive eye brighteners which work the best so far.
Any recommendations for good shadows that spread well either cream, stick or powder.

How about putting a matte base on the eyelid before shadow? I used to do that and it seemed to make things stay smoother longer.

I've had good luck with Urban Decay shadows...my favorite (and only) pallette is the Naked II. This is a matte collection of cool taupe shades. They are powder, blend well and the color payoff is good.

I do use a primer first...my eyes are hooded and without a primer, all eyeshadows end up on the hood!

@chiclet My Merit shadows (in a pot) are quite creamy and then set set down and are budge proof. I think you'd like them.

@chiclet I have the same issue. Last time I put on eye shadow I wondered what the heck happened to my eyelids. The powder and the brush just pushed the skin around and it stayed there for awhile until it relaxed and the skin adjusted itself.

I was thinking of the RMS cream - apply with your finger if you want - kind of eye shadows. I just don't wear it enough to justify the expense and having it sit in a drawer for those special occasions.

Looking forward to what others say, but I think any powder eye shadow that has to be applied with a brush is gonna be the same. I am 68.

I believe skincare needs to be addressed first. I use Perlier Youth Creator Eye Serum as part of my AM & PM routines. It can safely go on the lid. IMO it's a great product.

I have a few Bare Minerals, Doll 10, and Tarte palettes and have barely touched them in 2025. I've converted to RMS Eyelights and the Eye Polishes. They definitely require some practice but once I figured out how to use them, they're my go to's. I will also use RMS Back2Brow and a couple of the powdered blushes and highlighter. I really appreciate that so many of her products have multiple uses.

Use a good shadow primer on the lids before applying powder shadows.

Also try using a good eye cream that is also used on lids at night, cant hurt, make sure it is an eye cream that says can be used on lids. Nakery has one and so does Dr Nassif and Algenist.

@chiclet I have tried endless products for my crepey drooping eyelids. The two products I found to be the best are Perricone Md Instant Blur Priming Cream and Doll 10 This Colors Everything Smoothing Cream Eyeshadow. My eyelid appears much smoother with these products.

Jean, thanks for your review on the Perlier Eye Youth Creator, I may give it a try, some reviews say it burned and made them itch, assume no reactions for you. Right now I am using Nassif Peri Orbital eye on my lids. I have tried many and none have done much for my lids.

I hope you get good results, @Shelbelle. I've been using this product since it launched and I haven't experienced any negative side effects. It's not the only thing I use though. I pre-moisten the area with a drop of a good hyaluronic acid serum, apply the Perlier serum, and then an actual eye cream over the top. I like a drop of oil, too, but that a matter of individual preference.

@chiclet ...I use Shiseido Benefiance eye cream, its great, and super hydrating.

I also just bought Elf, Holy Hydration...im very pleased with it as well. Im very surprised how well it works.

As for eye shadow...Mac has an eye primer, thats very good. There's one in a pot, and I like Prep n prime in the twist up wand....very creamy.

As for eye shadow...if you like sticks, id recommend Laura Mercier caviar shadow sticks.

I have the rose collection, 3 shades, and all go on very smooth, and no creasing.

Although I haven't used in long time....I remember Shiseido eye shadows were the silkiest, velvety powder shadow I've ever used. If you can get to a counter, definitely try them. Keep your eye shadows light to maybe 2 shades....the more fussing with the lids, the more crepiness....easy does it.

Our eyes age us....keep them hydrated with an eye cream that works best you...I personally dont do several steps, or too many steps of different applications. I keep it simple, not much tampering with the area, no rubbing, pulling. This is why I love Shiseido eye cream. They run sales...keep an eye out.

All said...all I do is, eye cream, little concealer....then goes on shadows.

That is some routine, for me I would apply it and nothing else under or over.
