Cardamon scent?

One of he new Philosophy scentts is cardamon. Help? What is that scent? I haven't really heard it described very well.

@srgtdj - It's cardamom.

The scent is that of the ground cardomom seed. IMO, you'd need to smell it to know it. It's a fragrant spice that can be used both in baking as well as in savory dishes like curry. I used to buy it for a Swedish Christmas bread I'd make every year, carrying on a tradition of my grandma. It's not spicy like cayenne pepper. It's more warm like cinnamon or nutmeg, but don't think that means it smells like either of them.

I dislike the smell. Really awful but that's just IMO.

That goes to show we're all different. I love it and find it very warm and comforting, a very autumn scent. Patchouli is another distinct one I like this time of year. I'm taking a guess that you might not like it either, @Judaline?

Not something I would want in a body wash scent. I dont like it in my tea either

@srgtdj It's very spicy floral smelling. I would say the closest scent I can think of would be the flowers of Viburnum Carlesii.

It's pretty strong, so a little goes a long way. I have both the pods and the ground versions for my Indian recipes. I've never used it in baking, but I imagine it would work well for all sorts of desserts. Again, a little goes a long way.

I have noticed cardamon as a note in some perfumes recently. My husband puts it in his hot tea.

Cardamon is used in many scented items and recipes. It imparts a warm, inviting, tasty, slight spiciness. Very pleasant and often combined with other herbs and spices.

I've used cardamon in many recipes. Added a pinch when brewing coffee and its a note in several edp's I have. I think it'll make a pleasing addition to a body wash, especially for the cool weather and holidays.
