From what I've read about spicules is that when applied to the skin, some of the spicules go into the skin and stay there until they dissolve on their own which is what they are supposed to do.

Several weeks ago I asked about Shikimic Acid and it sparked quite a lot of interest and info. Now I am on a kick to try using lotions and potions containing spicules. Lots of offerings in Korean Beauty and HSN has a essence and a cream. Isomers also had a very pricey offering on SHQ before they shut down. Anyone tried ? An alternative to micro needling using sponge. Thanks.

I'm not so sure that spicule use is a true alternative to microneedling for collagen induction where a depth of at least 0.5mm is needed to do that. Spicules don't go that deep and only exfoliate the surface and penetrate slightly but not into the dermis layer where collagen is formed. Spicules might be an alternative to other forms of exfoliation, however.

Yes, I have been using Dr. Tree's spicule cream from HSN.

It really is different from other products in the way it feels. When you apply it to your skin you feel a gentle sort of prickly tingle. It is difficult to describe; very delicate but noticeable.

Here's what's really different - when I wash my face the following morning, I feels that same sensation as when I applied it. So I feel that some of it stayed on the surface of my skin and I have now washed it off.

Does that mean its doing something? Dunno, but I kind of like it. My skin definitely feels smooth the next day.

It looks like it's selling for $48 today but it was quite a bit less when I bought if, so if considering it, wait for a sale.

I see other Korean brands for a lot less on I Herb and amazon, I may buy another brand of the serum and cream, thanks.

Also the Dr Tree cream contains petroleum, which I do try to avoid.

Spicules come from sea sponges and they are the skeletal structures that makeup their shape. Spicules are microscopic needles made of silica and they are hollow so they can deliver substances into the skin.

Spicules under the miocroscope:

I've been interested in trying the Dr Tree Spicule Essence from HSN, however after researching "spicules," I'm really hesitant. Sounds like they can be too exfoliating, and actually damage the skin barrier.

Manuela introduced a spicules product on SHQ last year, very pricey for a very small size , she referred to it as a peel. I figure if she trusts it on our skin, it cant be bad for it. I remember she said it did not have to be used daily to be effective

I have debated about using skincare w/Spicules & also growth factors.

I know its a trend but after I watched Dr Dray's videos, I canceled my GF serum and never bothered to purchase spicules. She talks about Sponge dermatitis in one of her videos and if you are prone to skin tags, GF's could worsen it. Her words are not gospel but I'd much rather be happy appreciating the skin I have!
