Powder foundation that won't settle into lines?

As I am getting older I am finding that all the powder foundations I have in my stash all just settle into my lines after I apply them. I don't like liquid, I've tried many and just don't care for them. I like a light coverage that just sorta blends into my skin making it look a little more even (thank you sun damage).

I have bare Minerals, tarte amazon clay, Laura Geller Balance and brighten and It Cosmetics (this one is the worst of them all as far as settling into lines). I need to toss them all and find one that is better.

Would love to hear any suggestions you have. Thank you!

I use 'It Celebration Foundation' and have no problem with it. (ETA-I'm 72)

@SandGirl I've tried all you mentioned and others.

My skin is too dry and old for any success using powders.

@granddi thank you. What have you found that works that doesn't make lines look worse? I have the It Cosmetics foundation everyone loves but I don't love it at all...

IMO it starts with proper skincare before we even get to the foundation. If a person has wrinkles and texture, the foundation is going to settle. Look at the wrinkly QVC models and hosts and it's obvious. The vendors and hosts can say their products don't settle until they're blue in the face and I don't believe them. Some even accentuate them.

I've rediscovered Bare Minerals (original) when I want a powder. I use a primer first. The coverage is so nice and my RMS blush and highlight powders apply well over it.

@JeanLouiseFinch embarassed to admit however, I have like 4 FULL SETS of skin care I rotate. Perricone, Consulte, Isomers and Jeffery James, I also use exfoliating pads by Dr Nassiff twice a day and have the Glycolic pads from PTR, I've tried the powders with all my skin care routines and it does the same thing.., I just feel like I need to mention, I am finishing up what I have skincare wise, and going with just the basics, things have just gotten too expensive so I'm not repurchasing any more skin care until all of what I have is gone!

I spray One/Size Powder Melt setting spray over all powder foundations. It gives such a beautiful finish. Currently I use Jane Iredale powder foundation with a little bit of MAC Studio Fix on any small spots or problem areas.

@SandGirl Foundations of all forms, powder, liquid etc., is more often than not OVER applied. You say you only need light coverage so you're good.

Be cognizant of how much powder you are applying, reminding yourself that very little should be used and you need to allow a little time before going in and applying more. You'd be surprised at the sufficient amount of coverage you get with little product, truly.

@SandGirl. The brand is One/Size. It’s sold on their own site and at Sephora. Right now it’s sold out on One/Size, but, available on the Sephora app…..probably website and at stores too. I spray at least 5-6 sprays about 6 inches away with my eyes closed. Huge difference for me.

I'm 71 living in a very dry climate and have no problems with Bare Minerals original formula. I don't use primer

I'm not sure what the answer is. I know at my advanced age - almost 73 -- I am not pleased with my skin. I don't particularly like wearing liquid or cream foundation - have found none that really gives me enough coverage and that look good on my older skin. Powder has been better for me as far as ease. Is it perfect? No, far from it. I do use Laura Geller for the ease and if I use it sparingly, it does offer some coverage. Although I do not feel that if you have lined skin, it will take the lines away. Using the powder sparingly is better. I guess as others have suggested, maybe trying a primer first. Trial and error. I don't think as we get older and have lines that any kind of cosmetic is going to make these things just disappear -- sadly.
