I have not used primer in many years under my foundation? Do you ladies feel it is worth adding to our makeup routine? If so I used to use Laura Geller's spackle. One of my girlfriends purchased the champagne glow thinking of buying it but I don't know if it's worth the $$ or another product added to my vanity.

They are just another step that may fill in something you didn't have working for you in your basic routine.

It could be have been filled by finding the correct moisturizer, but it happened to be found in a product that was labeled as a "primer".

I feel like people with dry skin have better luck with primers that oily skinned people.

Skin care to help with oily skin is hard.

According to experts and/or popular opinion, primer does two things; 1. It seals in the skincare and 2. It prepares the skin for a better makeup application.

Right now I use Spackle whenever I do my makeup. I have a supply built up from assorted sales but I am not 100% married to it. It's on a Prime Days deal right now but there are other primers out there that are less expensive and can do a good job. I used to use Missha BB Boomer years ago. It's an illuminating type similar to the LG Champagne but more of a pearlized pale pink. Be advised that it does have fragrance, in case you're sensitive. I thought it smelled nice but overall it's unnecessary. Another one is Thank Me Later by Elizabeth Mott for a less expensive option. It comes in a variety of options and has 4.5 star rating with over 42K reviews on Amazon.

Good luck deciding.

Primer is usually the only thing I wear anymore. I find my liquid foundations are way too thick and heavy on their own--but I do add the primer to them on occassion and that works well. Been using Dr Brants pore reducer primer--love that--and like Laura Gellers spackle too. Maybe go to ebay and look for small samples of primers--I do that all the time.

A lot of moisturizers and sunscreens have dimethicone in them so you really don’t need one unless you’re looking for a glowy base. My biossance moisturizers I was using did not have silicone. The naturium ones I just got do so they probably would make a great base for makeup without primer

As another poster wrote, my understanding is that primer helps make-up look better, more even. I don't use it and my uneven skin tone looks more uneven when I use cream or liquid foundation, which is what I use, than without foundation. I have dry skin and won't use powder. I am thinking it would be better if I did use a primer, and I have bought some, but I never make the time. I have never had much patience with make-up application. I do use some, and will do nicer make-up for nicer events. Just not a lot of patience for it. I can see in other people in the internet, or before, in print, how much better they look with a good make-up application, but for some reason I never FEEL like I look better, and don't recall other people that I see looking better at events.

Maybe I need better technique. But that means I have to practice, and I don't make the time for that either. Don't like putting things on and taking them off, which one needs to do to try different things. I FEEL like that would take a toll on my skin. It's probably not as bad as my instincts tell me. I need patience. I do believe in skin care, I do KNOW that makes a difference. I CAN SEE that. I do believe in keeping it simple, but don't think moisturizer and sun protection are the only things needed for good skin. Exfoliation is IMO ESSENTIAL, and I have found serums and treatments that make a difference in my skin texture. So I have skin care products I like and use regularly and do try different things hoping they are better.
