Question Regarding WEN

I am tempted to try WEN cleansing conditioners. However, my hair is not in the greatest shape right now, so I don't want to make things any worse.

Have any of you experienced any problems or adverse effects after using WEN products? I am not in any way saying that I think this would be the case. I just thought I would ask this question of people who use the products. Thanks in advance for any responses.

I have not. I have used Wen exclusively to cleanse for about ten years now and I have not had any issues with it.

I started using WEN a few years after it came to QVC and have been using it since. I have not experienced any problems whatsoever with it in all that time.

I will say that it took me some time and experimenting to find the best formulas for my hair. But none of the ones I rejected did anything permanently harmful to my hair, they just didn't leave it like I wanted.

And it took me a while to figure out how to use it and how much to use for my hair. I needed much more water than the "splash" Chaz always mentions. And I don't use as much cleansing conditioner as he calls for either since I have fine hair. Other than that, it's just the same routine as using shampoo and conditioner.

I have had the same experience as @geezerette I have used WEN for years and am very happy with the product.

I also find for my fine hair that a combination (or as Chaz like to say a "cocktail") of formulas works best. I find the rice formulas to be the lightest and the soy based to be the heaviest. So I have found the right mixture of Tea Tree (wheat based) and Fragrance Free (rice based) for my first cleanse, then Winter Vanilla Mint (soy based and because it's my favorite scent) and FFree for my second cleanse works best.

There are many other scents with the same properties. I just like those.

Chaz always says to use 613/319 for fine hair, but I find that those are too heavy for mine, even mixing. As I said, it may take some experimenting.

The different Classic formulas are geared toward different hair types and needs. Often similar results can be achieved with the Seasonal products too. What are your desired results or needs?

I wholeheartedly agree with @geezerette . There is a learning curve, yet certainly doable. I too add more than a "splash" of water to get a nice froth and often use less product than suggested. I find the "golfball" suggestion based on hair length (and or density or texture) easier than a gazillion pumps that was originally recommended. (1 golfball for shor, 2 for med, 3 for long)

Ice never had any issues using Wen or the ancillary products in well over 15 years.

I went into using WEN with every good intention. It did not make my hair fall out, nor did it clog my drain. Sadly I never got great second day hair, no matter what I did. My hair was long at the time and Day Two would always be a dry shamooo and ponytail day because it still looked greasy. I gave it a very long trial, used different formulas over the period of a few years and nothing changed. I eventually moved on to Tweak'd and it's been much better for me.

I love it for my fine, curly hair. My hair is bright red, but white at the roots, lol. So my hair acts like gray, white hair. I use WEN after I use Mizzani. Love the results I only like a few. Anything with coconut, Pomegranite, and Fig. Those three. Works great. I started using it before WEN came to QVC

I've used WEN for about 20 years and my hair has never looked better. I have fine, dry, frizzy hair and have found Tea Tree and Summer Honey Peach to be the best. One thing I learned is that on Tea Tree if I didn't use a lot, my hair would be greasy. It doesn't make sense but it's true. You need to massage your scalp and make sure there isn't a residue that you can feel. The best time to try it is when your hair is not in the best shape.

I have long hair. When I got over 65 years old my hair started feeling dry and not looking shiny. I started using wen and it helped immediately. I'm 74 now and used it during chemotherapy and it has continued to help my aging hair. I still have my long hair due to a wonderful oncologist.

@12andcounting I have used WEN for years, since he introduced the first Seasonal, Fall Ginger Pumpkin. I have found that I get my best results from the Soy based formulas, but my eczema reacts to any formula with the trimonium honey compound in it, so I am only using 319, Fall Ginger Pumpkin, and Winter Vanilla Mint. I can also use Spring Orange Blossom and Winter White Forest, but I recently cut my hair quite short, a pixie cut, so I am using so little WEN that I only bought one gallon this year, a 319, as I will have enough cleansing conditioner to last me a couple of years from now! I have very fine, dark blonde hair going grey, and I cleanse every day, since I exercise and my scalp sweats, so I cleanse in the shower and go to bed clean. I am also washing out the huge amount of allergens my hair picks up from being outside in the state I live in, the pollen capital of the USA, so I don't rub them from my hair onto my pillowcase and then all over my face. (Learned that from an immunologist I used to work with, shower and wash hair before bedtime so you don't take the allergens to bed with you!) I also agree with many other WEN users, you have to experiment a little to find out how much works with your hair and scalp, what other products you might want to use, etc. I mostly use just cleanser and styling creme if I know I am going to heat style the next day. I remoist once a week, most weeks, but with hair this short I almost doesn't need it, I get it cut so often. Hope this helps you decide.

I used WEN for years. Never had any problems. But I stopped using it years ago because of the expense. My hair looks just as good, if not better, using drug store shampoo.

A lot of them, @12andcounting. I've been using Tweak'd products for about five years.

shampoo

conditioner

cleansing treatment (smooth kind in a tub, not the scrub)

revitalzing treatment mist

xxxl CLEANditoner

chiuri styling creme

2xl fiber lift and style foam

I use shampoo and conditioner 2-3 times a week.

The cleansing treatment is roughly once a week or so.

The revitalizing treatment mist is a pre blow dry spray but is also a detangler and next day refreshener if I have bedhead.

The fiber lift is what I apply to the roots and the styling creme on the rest of my hair prior to blow drying.

The cleanditioner replaces dry shampoo for the I'm between days. There are complaints about the bottle/delivery. I've experienced them to so I transfer into another bottle.

I have body wash and body lotion that I'm sitting on, while I use up some other things.

I have the all purpose rescue cream too.

I tried Wen, numerous times. Everyone had raved about it and I thought I would give it a try.

I have fine wavy hair. No matter how much I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed, I ended up with greasy looking flat hair. It got to the point that I would use it and then use regular shampoo afterward.

So I would stop using it and then try again a few months later. I finally just gave up. I use regular shampoo and am happy with the results.

@12andcounting My hair is thick and curly/wavy. I tried WEN many years ago and although many love this, it didn't do any favors for my hair type. It weighed it down, couldn't get a curl (over conditioned) and I certainly couldn't go a suggested week until next wash day. My hair felt sticky and dirty in two days.
