Argan Milk?

I am a little confused about this. Josie says it is encapsulated argan oil and you apply it before your argan oil. So am I misunderstanding- argan oil and then more argan oil on top? I looked at the ingredients and didn't really see anything else besides some glycerin and preservatives.

Argan Milk INGREDIENTS: Aqua (Water) (and) Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil (and) Propanediol (and) Glyceryl Caprylate (and) Glyceryl Undecylenate (and) Phosphatidylglycerol (and) Sodium Benzoate (and) Xanthan Gum (and) Citric Acid.

Am I missing something? I am truly asking, because I know there are some knowledgeable skincare people on here, I am not trying to be snarky.

I heard this morning to consider the milk as a serum and to follow with the other Argan. She makes great products, but is this just another ploy to get us to purchase another product?

I got a nice sample of this and have been using it for a couple of days both morning and night. I'm really impressed with how nice my skin feels and how it is finally staying hydrated all day. I will likely purchase the full size.

Do you think you can use it INSTEAD of just straight argan oil? If they are both argan oil just encapsulated versus not, it seems like you can just skip one?

I know so Argan on top of argan? I just don't see what the advantage is to use it in combination with straight argan oil. Maybe one or the other since they are just different delivery systems but both? Not sure I understand.

Last night she said the micro encapsulation allows the water and argan oil to penetrate deeper and that topping with her 100% argan oil would seal in the moisture. I'm going to check it out at my local Sephora.

Last night I heard her say something about how the Milk is water and argan oil mixed together but in smaller molecules and so it'll be absorbed deeply into your skin really rapidly, and then you apply the straight oil on top which is larger molecules and thus won't go as deep into your skin as fast and so the oil will "lock in" the moisture from the Milk. I have no idea if this is true or not or even an accurate representation of the composition of products or how they work on one's face. I've never really been convinced of the "locking in" theory -- LOL. I didn't hear her say "encapsulated" so I'm really interested in that explanation of it, because it seems to explain things differently (and perhaps more clearly) that what I heard her say last night. I don't really understand it myself, but if it's keeping people's faces moisturized then that's good enough for me! I won't buy it though because I'm totally happy with everything I'm currently using. I do try to understand what presenters are saying when they explain products, but most of the time I'm left wondering, "Does skin actually work that way???"

I'm curious about this too. I like the idea of an argan serum...is it supposed to be lighter than argan oil? I guess it is if you're supposed to follow with argan oil. I'd like to use it alone since my face is mostly oily, but I need more hydration in winter. Think it would work well alone?

I bought this after trying it at Sephora last week. For me, argan oil is too greasy and heavy, even the light version. I feel like it sits on my skin and doesn't absorb. This absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling and looking fresh and dewy without looking or feeling greasy. It's a serum and you should always add a moisturizer over a serum to seal the moisture in and protect the skin.

This explains it well (source here):

Moisturizer: A moisturizer is a lotion or cream that contains emollients to hydrate the skin. It also forms a barrier to help the skin retain its hydration. As you might have noticed when pursuing the aisles at your local drugstore, many moisturizers have ingredients that deliver additional skin care benefits.

Serum: The lesser known “cousin” of the moisturizer, the serum, nourishes skin with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. But unlike moisturizer, it doesn’t add oil to the skin. Facial serum has smaller molecules than moisturizers. So it’s able to penetrate the deepest layers of your skin for an added hydration boost. This also makes it possible to deliver those beneficial nutrients to the deepest layers of the skin, where moisturizers aren’t able to penetrate.

That's what Josie says about the milk, that is has smaller molecules and penetrates the skin where a moisturizer can't reach. You need the moisturizer or argan oil layer to seal that in. I use my regular moisturizer, since I don't like argan oil for daytime use. I can use argan oil over the milk at night.

I've been using it instead of argan oil. I have both the regular and light versions. I have dry skin that is sensitive and mild rosacea. This has not caused any irritation at all like so many products have. What I am finding so far is that my skin is staying smooth and feeling hydrated all day where before it got dry again during the day with my regular moisturizer. I've been applying in the morning and then applying Paula's Choice spf 30 moisturizer on top. At night I used just the "milk" to see how it was. My primary concern is getting all pink or irritated from skincare products.

I found this article pertaining to the phosphatidylglycerol-ingredient in skin "milk".

Other ingredients act as binders and the citric acid I think is good for skin. While its not chockfull of all sorts of ingredients I prefer that given my skin type.

Neither am I. And plus, how many times have they talked about how straight argan oil absorbs quickly into the skin so wouldn't this explanation imply that the oil is sitting atop the skin, contradicting the initial claim of absorbing quickly- or am I thinking about this wrong?

I'm surprised no one saw the graphic that they showed with the product. It was some kind of special machine that they have give a special name that blasts the argan oil into smithereens so that is small enough to penetrate deeply.

As far as whether this has validity or whether skin really works this way, as another poster wondered, I have no clue.

My instinct tells me that it is probably a decent enough serum that has the oil somehow emulsified in it.

She did say that it should be followed by either her oil or a moisturizer of some kind.

I checked out her deck a while back and when I looked into the ingredient Phosphatidylglycerol, I found a lab that sells skin milks. You can learn more about Skin Milks with Phosphatidylglycerol by clicking right HERE..

I was initially skeptical of her new product, but once I looked into the deck and checked out each ingredient, I decided to try it and ordered it off of her website during a recent sale. I've been applying it in the AM after cleansing and toning and prior to my AM treatment. I avoid my T-Zone and eye area. I only need one drop for my forehead and two drops for the balance of my face. It absorbs quickly, and leaves a beautiful glow on my skin. I never liked her Argan Oil on my face (left behind an oily film) and this milk is very different. My initial impression is a positive one, and I plan to use it every AM until I reach the bottom of the bottle. I will then decide if I wish to reorder.

I am thinking maybe you could get away with one or the other so I think if you used just the milk, it might work better for you (moisture without the heaviness that straight argan kind of feels)?

Hi Lyn-looks like we both found the same info and I also found it worth looking into. the other day after I applied it my DH walked in the room and asked if I "moisturized", skin was glowy!

There was a thread a few days ago in which we discussed that very ingredient. I checked it out and was also impressed.
