red dyes?

I just found a blush I love and I put it all over my face since I can't find a pink foundation. What happens when they remove the red dyes from our food ( a very good thing). Will cosmetic companies soon be in trouble? That would involve lipstick, blush, rouge and on and on. So before it begins, probably in a year or so, I'm just wondering should a person not use anything which will probably one day soon be toxic in cosmetics? I'd like to know now. Maybe organic is the way to go. Dunno.

I wish they woulld remove it from everything, especially cosmetics. I cannot wear anything around my eyes that has red dye, the area will puff up and begin to itch and last for days on end. It's truly toxic IMO.

Im my research it takes forever for much to change in the cosmetic industry. The brand 100% Pure has been using food safe natural plant dyes for along time. They use bluberries and the like, instead of chemicals. They source pigments from fruit, vegetables, tea, and cocoa to avoid commonly used FD&C colorants and heavy metal dyes. They are also cruelty-free and vegan.

You're probably not going to get a beautiful saturated red color from vegetable dyes. I saw a segment on using vegetable dyes for dyeing eggs for Easter and the beet-dyed eggs were far from red.

The explorer Hernan Cortes got rich after discovering a dehydrated insect that yielded a saturated red and brought it back to Europe. According to the show where I got this tidbit, that same dehydrated cochineal insect is still used today. It is most commonly used as a natural coloring agent in many foodstuffs, particularly beverages, as well as cosmetics. AKA Red E120 and Carmine.

BTW, it is supposedly safe to be used in the eye area.
