Physical Sunscreen

Looking for recs for a physical sunscreen for the face that is waterproof/sweatproof. One that doesn't feel gross.

I have one that is okay for when I'm not sweating, but you don't want it getting in your eyes since it migrates when you sweat.

Maybe mineral sunscreens are more popular for the face, I only use mineral.

@Shelbelle a mineral sunscreen is the same as a physical one vs a chemical one. I need one that is water/sweat-proof.

@Midmod The Ordinary's new sunscreen is not a Physical (or mineral) sunscreen. It's a chemical one, and I see nothing about it being water or sweat proof. Might as well just stick with Neutrogena Sport Face.

I mainly wanted a phyiscal (mineral) sunscreen so I could apply some of my skincare first. You're not supposed to do that with the chemical sunscreens.

@Icegoddess Trader Joe's has a Mineral Sunscreen for the face. I have not tried the mineral one yet.

Also, Sephora has its yearly Sun Safety Kit out with all proceeds going to Sloan Kettering. I just purchased mine. It typically contains some mineral sunscreens in trial sizes.

I really like Andalou SPF 30, all zinc oxide, I use the one that is a CC Cream and tinted and smells like roses, but that dissapates quickly.

The best I have ever found is Shiseido in the little light blue teardrop bottle. I think they still make it. It is great! I am very allergic to Avabenzone. And it is in almost everything now. They have an Urban one in a white bottle I haven't tried yet.

LaRoche Posay and EltaMd make good ones. These are expensive, but I don't use a lot of it, and the Shiseido is tops still for me--with mineral only. I haven't bought it recently so don't know the exact one in their line is mineral only still.

@Icegoddess I don't know that there is a truly sweatproof sunscreen, but I also have the problem of burning my eyes, and I finally found one that doesn't burn. Supergoop bright eyed SPF 40. I tried many! It has a slight tint like all physical sunscreens do. I had a clinique chemical that I loved and didn't sting but it was discontinued.

Doesn't feel gross. Nice and smooth.

Sunscreens, both chemical and mineral, are best used on top of a vitamin C serum. VC helps to neutralize free radicals formed inside the skin when exposed to sunlight. Free radicals (oxidative stressors) rob skins cells of essential nutrients to stay alive and, if left alone, they cause premature aging for instance wrinkles and especially brown spots.

Thanks for the replies. I'll go look at the ones mentioned. I'm mainly talking about something for when I'm doing yard-work, and I live in muggy AL.

Seems like we are all on an endless search. When I run, it's Australian Gold SPF50. But under makeup...still an ongoing dilemma. Nothing would consider a holy grail.

I use Suzanne Organics. It's not that it feels 'gross', but I'm aware that I have it on. It comes in 2 different shades. I apply a bit of Suzanne Organics mineral powder makeup over it.

Honestly, I apply it onto my neck, also, and it makes my *cough60something* year old neck look about 20 years younger.

I've never *burned* with it on. I walk the beach for a mile or two in the middle of summer wearing it and no burn (or tan!) ever. I wish they made something for body, too.

I'm looking for a Waterproof Tinted moisturizer with skincare and Mineral/physical SPF.

and a Waterproof Mineral/physical SPF. for days I don't want tint.

I just joined a pool, taking the Grands🥰, intend to keep mostly covered from the sun, so a very good Sunscreen is crucial.

I thought i would come back and update on my choice. I decided to go with Neutrogena Mineral Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Face & Body Stick spf 50. It seems to check most of the boxes I was looking for.

Mineral

High SPF

Water/Sweat-proof or resistant (80 minutes)

Leaves no goopy/greasy feeling on skin.

I didn't really care if it left a bit of a white cast since it's mostly for working in the yard, but it appears to not have much of a whtie cast. A review on Amazon also mentioned that it did not sting the eyes when applied to the lids. I don't apply to my lids, but it's a plus in case it migrates into my eyes.

I just tried Sole brand physical sunscreen spf 40 and like it so far. I purchased on HSN. It doesn’t seem to leave any white cast, either. Don’t know how it performs under foundation yet.

Be careful with sunscreens

The FDA just came out with a warning on them

Ive never liked them

My skin would break out or Develop a rash

Eyes would burn if on my face

I stay away from the hottest sun

Wear hats and ALWAYS sunglasses
