I love their Root Coverup. I do my roots every 6 weeks, and get highlights 3 to 4 times a year. Around week 4, I start using the Root Coverup (in the perfect world, I'd dye my roots every 3 weeks). I have 3 different colors and can actually extend highlight visits by 'painting' in highlights with the different color powders. Only root coverup I've found that looks natural and stays in until I wash my hair. Good Stuff!

I had medium brown lowlights added to my silver/white hair to add dimension and contrast quite awhile ago and posted here.

Well, my sylist said I'd only have to have them redone every 3-5 months, but my hair grows fast and within 2 months, I had at least 1 1/2 inch white roots showing. I had to deal with it during the holidays since she was away. I have an appt. on the 11th to remove the color and tone to match my my now 2" roots. Live and learn, I guess. So, back to silver hair and the need for more color in my makeup.

***BTW, I used and am still using ColorWow on the roots to help blend in the regrowth and it works great. It can be difficult when the grow out period happens. I might have suggested light brown low lights vs. medium brown low lights. The darker the color, the more prominent the roots are when it grows out. I'm sure you look terrific with your silver hair. If you decide to try low lights again....lighter might be a good choice.

Good luck and I hope your hair does not start to break, most likely they will use bleach to remove the color and it does a lot of damage to your hair

I had the same done in September--highlights and lowlights and what a mess!! I HATE the color on my head !! Then I tried to correct it myself with a home color--didn't turn out terrible-- but too much red in it--- so mad at myself for going thru it all in the first place--My hair grows slowly and desperately need a cut---have brown hair with grey that looks fine---really, it does or did anyway--never again. Just a color is $100 !! Too much to waste in my book!!

about a year ago I decided that some highlights and lowlights would brighten up my dull grays and give me my shine back.

it looked so beautiful for about 6 weeks, then I started noticing my hightlights turning yellow. after several appointments for toner, I finally realized that no amount of toner or purple shampoo would take the yellow away.

it changed everything about my hair. it used to be smooth and now it looks and feels brittle and frizzy. my hair is just below my shoulders ( and I won't be getting it cut short) so my only recourse is to continue to get my regular trims and layers done and live with this unfortunate decision until it finally gets snipped off.

live and learn.

Went the route of going natural a few years ago during pandemic.Wanted to really see what my hair would come in as my mother ,brother and grandfather had beautiful white hair, almost would say platinum, while other family members had just plain grey, well I got those genes I love my natural white (aka platinum) hair.

I was using during the transition a great product by Goldwell Soft Color, it's like a mousse ,picked a shade close to what my color was at the time think it was called Sahara, and with a few haircuts and being patient I finally have freedom of not dealing with sometimes liking the color or sometimes disappointed as color was too brassy or to dark, roots did not take the color as well , one problem after another.

Now just shampoo condition so easy and shouldn't life be easy as we get older .

Hi @Shanus ...I mentioned to you on older post I did the same as you, and it doesn't work. New growth in 3 weeks for me. Also for my fine hair, I missed the volume and fullness color gives me. So I went back to a pale light beige blonde, pretty close to my white roots. Color all through...its actually easier and more youthful looking.

I'd never be all white, 😝. I'm very fair , porcelain completion. It's really easy, I just throw on color on roots...I sometimes pull through a few lowlites....I also leave out a one or two pieces, wrap in foil, and I have my natural white coming through...just make sure I grab those same pieces each time while I color my roots.

So I now have that dimension...a little of my natural, a few strands of lowlites, with the pale blonde that doesn't accentuate the new root growth. It's really not complicated and I do it all myself. However, my daughter is a hair stylist, and she buys me salon products. I understand you may not want to be bothered with color anymore...but like I said...I find it youthful looking and adds volume to my hair. My mom was 94 and we still colored her hair...took 20 years off her looks...she loved it and no one ever believed her age.

I'm sure you'll find your solution and look beautiful 🙂
