Ya never know, with Walmart, @SharkE. I thought I struck a great deal on a couple pairs of Hokas last summer and they turned out to be 100% counterfeit. I returned them at the closest store immediately. In the past couple of months I've gotten some RMS item from the Walmart website that turned out to be just fine.

As for the Chanel No. 5, not Walmart but eBay, also a couple of months ago, I happend upon a deal and it was legit. Some Thierry Mugler Alien Goddess too.

I'm in a perfume group on facebook, they talk a lot about the fakes on walmart dot com. If its a third party seller its fake.

I remembered buying some fragrance from Walmart before and looked at my purchase history. Last May (2023) I bought a "Clinique Happy Heart Woman 3.4 oz" perfume for $25 ($62 off), and when it came it seemed to be authentic (box, bottle, smell, etc.), though who knows? Maybe my nose isn't calibrated to sniff out a fake unless it's obviously bad LOL.

I don't remember how I saw my deal, but it might have been posted on slickdeals dot net or even a Walmart ad? But I was very happy with it as a good deal. The best thing is that you can return yours with no hassle if you're not impressed. Here's wishing you luck!

One of the Sellers on the site, Imaginary is selling their's for just over $51.00. The reviews for the product and the company are horrible. If it was actually Walmart I would be inclined to believe it is the real deal but not this way.

I would not trust Walmart with a high item such as Chanel #5. If I bought it I would go directly to their website.

Since the product is surely patented, Walmart couldn't use the name if it wasn't authentic. A large corporation isn't likely to risk a lawsuit.

@Kachina624 The third party sellers sale fakes all the time on walmart dot com.

@Happy2BHereIf it is purchased from a third party it has to be returned to the third party not walmart.

I don't admit to knowing how it all works but wouldn't that only apply if it was Walmart who was filling the orders and shipping them? They don't know, or are able to control, what third party sellers do. Does that make sense?

Oh yes, sorry I missed who was shipping to her - mine was sold and shipped by Walmart, so that is a difference I'll have to make sure and watch if I ever order again.

I always try and avoid third party shippers on my online orders if possible, even on my Amazon orders.

@Kachina624 It was online, they are known for third party sellers that sell fakes.

I have noticed that when I see very good prices it’s usually featured on Walmarts website. I think some people might not realize it comes directly from them. It’s a bit deceptive and especially with the bad reviews some of these 3rd party companies they would not be connected with them.

Several years ago one of my agency's biggest customers was a SVP/Buyer for women's cosmetics for a large upscale department store chain, including fragrance. It was when Dior's Poison hit the market and I fell in love with it, he gave me a huge, authentic set of it that I'm sure was worth several hundred dollars. His assistant told me not to worry about it, that they had obtained it via a "diverter". I wonder if such organizations still exist.

Even the real Chanel No. 5 smells nothing like the original. It was, in fact, a beautiful fragrance, and my first "adult" perfume. Sadly it suffered the same fate as so many others via reformulations.

I went to Dillards today and sprayed the sample of # 5 on me. LOL Told the sales girl about Walmart she was miffed and said Chanel would only lend their product to approved places. She figured it was phoney.

Their perfume of course was 120.
