I have not been feeling well at all, my lips are so dry,yet again got several good lip balms,would any medicated salve help,any ideas?

@goldensrbest, do you use a humidifier? I think trying to replenish moisture in the air is as important as what we apply to hold moisture in.

I've tried a variety of lip products, especially at night. I have two favorites. First is the Tatcha Lip Mask. Adheres and stays on throughout the night. For lighter everyday use, that I find what stays on for me, is Fresh Brand Lip Balm.

My experience, living in a very dry climate, is that I need a light, regular lip scrub wiith a sugar-based product.. QVC TACHA has a lip scrub, but it has peach seeds as a scrub and that might be too rough. The sugar-based ones are nice because the sugar is not harsh and dissolves quickly.

Then a nightly lip balm. There are multiple out there. I like Nuxe Rev de Miel ( Nuxe Honey lip balm). It has a thick texture so it seems to last longer. I also like La Neige Lip Sleeping Mask. Fior some reason, I'm just not a fan of the TACHA Kissu Lip Balm- it's sort of too sticky.

Once you start a weekly or so exfoliation, you will see the difference.

@goldensrbest Sara Happ Dream Slip and lip scrub are great. They are both on QVC. The Dream Slip stays on lips overnight.

@goldensrbest I mix granulated sugar and a bit of honey and do an exfoliation weekly. I used to use olive oil, but prefer the honey. Put it on, blend it in, and remove it with a warm washcloth, or do it right before jump my shower. I still love Carmex for healing.

Gently exfoliate with a washcloth. Apply Carmex or Aquaphor. Keep reapplying as it wears off, until your lips are healed. Then proactively use a lip treatment nightly at bedtime. Make sure you're staying hydrated.

I second the use of a humidifier. Your house should have a humidity level of about 40%, give or take 5 to 10. If you don't know what it is then get a humidity gauge. You can get one for about $10. You'll be surprised how low it can go especially during the winter months when the furnace is cranked on.

I got this set of three humidity gauges from amazon for $20. I have them placed in different rooms. Also available is a single one for less than $10.

If you're using retinol or tretinoin then be sure and keep the application away from the lip area as far away as possible. Apply a lip balm before and after.

I dont care for Sara Happ products, she uses petro and mineral oil. Her prices are way too steep for that.

For healing, you could try Dr. Dan's Corti-Balm. I got it from the A-place. It's not for every day since it has cortizone in it, but it might help with the healing. I don't think I would want to exfoliate them if they are raw and bleeding from peeling.

I'm actually liking Trader Joe's lip mask better fthan even the ever-popular Laneige. It goes on smoother and less gloppy. That being said, I've never flet like a lip mask did anything more for my lips than a squeeze-type lip balm like Aquaphor or EOS in the tube. I have switched back and forth between Laneige and EOS and by morning I couldn't tell you which one I had used the night before if I didn't already know.

And since we're on the subject of lip balms, I just opened a 3pk of Blistex Deep Renewal (with CoQ10 and SPF15) and I am not impressed. I feel like I have to constantly re-apply.

I've found the Blistex medicated in the blue pot works well if you put it on right before going to sleet. I really wish they would put it into a squeeze tube. They have a medicated stick but I don't think that works as well.

I've had chapped lips in the winter for as long as I can remember. I should probably do more, but what works for me is Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment in a tube. This really works for me but you do have to keep reapplying.

@goldensrbest My lips dry up as soon as weather drops below 60. My lips get chapped on the outer rim and it looks like I've been drinking red kool-aid. The only thing that heals them up quick is bacitracin antibiotic cream over a night or 2. I always wear a lip product during the day at work but they still get chapped every now and then.
