Tossed a bunch of perfumes and …

didn't think twice. Too strong, too much of a particular note (rose-gag), impulsive ill-considered purchase, etc. I'm down to three ,Tova Signature, Amazing Grace and Acqua di Gioia. A half bottle of Obsession gets to stay, not that I ever wear it but it reminds me of my mom.That said, I find myself doing an air spray and walk-through of Tova most days. Love how it lingers subtly for hours, and how it makes me feel.

@smoochy - Love Tova Signature fragrance. Even though I have no sense of smell, I used to wear this and get so many compliments. Heard its not the same as in the past but I'm always tempted to try it again. Spraying it and walking through it like you described, is how I used to apply it too. Then I knew I wasn't over doing it.

I tossed several bottles of perfume not too long ago. Some were so old and forgotten so I just got rid of most of them. Kept a few just for nostalgia keepsakes...pretty bottles with good memories.

I need to do that. I just don't wear perfume much any more except for my Trish Mcevoy No 9 and Philosophy Falling in Love/Unconditional Love from time to time.

Nowadays, I prefer just spritzing with a fragrance mist from my B&BW collection of mists when I want fragrance....

I don't own any perfume and won't buy any more.

Most fragrances stink on me. My mother was the same way. They smell good in the bottle, but not on me.

I tried Tova years ago, and it was one of the worse smells.

I gave the entire bottle to a coworker who loved it but couldn't afford it. Good riddance.

@smoochy I have a bottle of Body, mind & spirit by TOVA that belonged to my momma who has been dead now for 8 years. She only used it for special outings and I would never use it, just a keepsake...........memories.

My mom wore Jessica McClintock so I keep a nearly empty bottle of that around. My signature fragrance was Estee's Pleasures . . . or Chanel #5. I do the air spray and walk thru those . . . I just cannot part with them.

I love fragrances but my body chemistry & nose has changed. I can no longer tolerant a strong Patchouli or a sharp white musk base note in a perfume. It now makes me gag! I prefer light scents in a edt or edp & I would rather re-spray with them if needed. I was just gifted Channel Madamoiselle edp. & would never wear it even as a walk thru. Channel perfumes are heavy hitters with their Patchouli. I prefer a creamy sandlewood for one of the base notes & have to have a vanilla base not as well.

I did that too --a cople years ago when I was moving. Never wore the stuff and a few were older than dirt, a few from the stupid ex--not a perfume fan anyway.

Fragrance has always been my last step in getting ready to walk out the door to go to work. However, I've worked from home for the past 9 years, so I don't wear it every day anymore. I don't know why that is. I guess because I got out of the habit of leaving the house to go to work. If I remember these days I'll give myself a spritz or two. I still want to smell good! I haven't thrown any out, but I haven't bought any new ones in a few years.

My favorite fragrances are WEN and I got in the habit of buying his newest fragrances when they launched on QVC. I've stopped thought because I have quite the collection and love them all. I'll pick one to match my body cream that I apply in the morning.

@monicakm Mine is a few yrs. old. As Kayali vanilla 28 ages the liquid gets really dark. In fact, I like it better as it ages because it lasts longer on the skin. I mainly use it as a mixer. That is probably what you are getting from the opening.

I never have to worry about tossing a perfume, as I love them too much and use them up before ever having to throw them out.

I have given a few away though, that after I have purchased them they don't smell as good as I though and have given them to my daughters....

I don't buy as many as I used to, but one thing I do is when I awnt to purchase a new fragrance, especially if they are expensive.

I put it on in the store and wear it all day to see how it mixes with my body chemistry before purchasing. It has cut down on wasting money for me.

I have a good sized collection: Hanai Mori; Trish McEvoy 6 and 9; Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien; and my favorite two are Hermes Elixir des Merveilles Eau de Parfum and Fracas. Mom was Chanel #5 and Liz Taylor White Diamonds.

Oh and in high school I wore Ma Griffe! Remember that one?

I never wore perfume often, and there are few I really liked. To purchase one was a big deal to me. The only recent ones are a couple of Jo Malone. And Covid pretty much did away with smell for me.

Now days a lot of people run in horror if they smell perfume. Their allergies kick in and they might die right there on the spot from a whiff. So 'ya gotta be careful!
