I have stated before I have extremely oily skin, I always choose foundations for oily skin (not that it helps). Anyway I always burn in the sun, I'm not sure if I'm considered fair or light. I must be puchasing the wrong shades, I usually get cool toned foundation, maybe I should get a neutral tone? I constantly blot the oil on my face, I'm thinking this my take off some of my foundation. I also use pressed or loose powder in translucent or a light shade. All of this makes me look very pale, I'm wondering if I'm better off leaving my face untouched and leave the oil? Tomorrow I'm going foundation free as I don't think my skin is as oily without foundation. I have decided to skip using primer on my face as I feel it is a step I don't need ( using sunscreen and foundation).

They also make them powder infused. Are you using products to dry up the oil? I have read that only causes your face to produce more oil. Hope you find an answer.

@monicakm the oil blotting papers don't have anything on them. I'm not really using products to dry up the oil, just foundations for oily skin not anything additional.

@Jordan2 I have oily skin too ! I've had success with finding my color match through Mineral Fusion brand liquid foundation- it is sold at Whole Foods, Target, and Amazon dot com. The shades are cool, warm, neutral and olive and then there's a number 1 to 3 next to each color category. I've finally found my perfect match for my fair ivory skin that has yellow warm tones and a hint of olive to it- my shade is Olive 1 in this brand. I used this foundation today and topped it with setting powder and my makeup has lasted until tonight and still looks good. Have you tried Mattify Ultra Cosmetics setting powder? That stuff works really well. Etude House Zero Sebum setting powder is really great and about $7 on Amazon.

I stopped using Niacinimide since it was making my skin even more oily than it already was. I use Tony Moly Mochi Ceramide moisturizing toner every morning under my face sunscreen and that helps moisturize my skin and reduces the oil. Oily skin has some bonus sides- its helps with aging and I don't have to use as much highlighter!

It will matte your skin before foundation. 2. Also be sure you're not just using a loose powder but rather a setting powder that also prevents oil from coming through. 3. Check the ingredients in your skincare that you're not using something adding too much oil. There is specific skincare for oily skin.

Good luck and hope you find a solution.

Have you considered amending your skincare? When you use products marketed to diminish oil, they can actually be drying to the face. Consequently that sends a message to the brain to send more oil and you're in a vicious circle. On the other hand, like dissolves like so I'd try using a good cleansing oil and maybe even a few drops of a nice treatment oil. Give it time to balance everything out. And, BTW, don't use hot water on your face either.

For oily skin, it is recommended to use castor oil as part of your mix.

Minimilist Beauty also talks about which oils are best for which skin types - oleic v. linoleic acids, etc. You want to stay away from the ones w/ high oleic acid.

I think I have purchased foundations in shades that are too light for me ( I don't know if I'm fair or light, cool toned or neutral). I don't want to throw the foundations out and was wondering if there is a product you can mix into your foundation ( other than a darker shade of foundation) to get a shade more appropriate for my skin tone or should I add a drop or two of bronzing drops?
