IF YOU MICRONEEDLE, HAVE YOU SEEN GOOD RESULTS?

Whether you go to a professional or at home, have you seen improvements? Supposedly it can help collagen production and other benefits. I'm aware of different needle lengths too. Also, I'm reading a low molecular hyaluronic is good to use afterwards.

My spa and derm highly recommend....would like to hear if you had nice results.

I've been needling for well over a decade. I highly recommend this book about a holistic approach to microneedling. This book will help you understand the entire process. It also contains the author's products to buy at his website if you want them, I don't but they are good products to try.

Microneedling is a method of doing controlled injury to the skin so that it will naturally try and heal itself by producing collagen. What you do to your skin before and especially after needling is 90% of the process. The needling itself, although technique is important, is only a small part of having successful results now and in the years to come.

I had my first microneedling session this past week at a med spa. I was told that I need to do at least 2 more sessions. She also said it would be beneficial if I went for PRP instead of just microneedling.

Has anyone done microneedling w/PRP? @SilleeMee ? If so, what are your thoughts?

No, I have not done any PRP treatments.

PRP treatments help with speeding up recovery/healing time and it's suppose to reduce any pain associated with needling. PRP treatment are also know as 'vampire facials'. They are done along with needling and not as a separate procedure.

Thanks @SilleeMee It is more expensive. She said it works as a fertilizer & results are significantly better. I did some reading online, people who have done PRP don't think it's worth it🤷‍♀️

PRP treatments are probably good for people with sensitive skin or with problematic skin that could involve healing problems and scarring issues. But other than that I say let the needling alone do the work and be sure to take proper care of your skin before and especially right after needling. Needling involves more than just poking holes in the skin. That's the smallest part of the whole picture.

I know!

But really when microneedling is done right there is some degree of pinpoint bleeding involved and that's normal. It's a sign that the depth of the needles are going in far enough to stimulate collagen. Some bleeding in this case is a good thing to see.

I look like a bloody mess when I get done and I don't wash my face immediately afterwards either. I leave it alone for as long as I can, within reason, and then rinse using only water...no cleansers. The only thing I apply to my face for the next two days is jojoba butter and/or camellia oil. No makeup, no sunscreen (I stay indoors) and cleanse with only water. The best thing to do all in all is nothing at all. Let the skin heal on its own w/o interference from any chemicals.

I actually bought a needle stamp you recommended from Ebay awhile back and use it from time to time when I remember.

I need to be more consistent and want to try and get to where I do it once a month because I do believe in the science behind it.

It is pretty sting-ie though! haha but that does resolve after a couple of hours.

When they said beauty is pain, they weren't kidding!

Yes, the stinging is real. But whatever you do, do not use a numbing cream before needling. Numbing creams/gels contain lidocaine and that constricts blood vessels. You don't want that. I know the pros like to use numbing creams for obvious reasons but it's counterintuitive.

BTW...

Those dermastamps are good for 5 to 6 treatments and then toss. When I use a stamp, I stamp three times in one spot and then move on to the next spot and repeat. It takes me about 30 minutes total to prep and stamp my face, neck and dec. It goes fast and when you go fast there seems to be less stinging...LOL! Seriously.

I may consider this. What is a good hyaluronic serum to apply? I have had Dr.Brenner, @SilleeMee you recommended a while back. I also just ordered Cosrx toner ...its very nice...but I always like a straight hyaluronic.

Yes, I remember that rec for you. I don't have any new recs for HA serums. I wouldn't use any serum after needling. That could introduce chemicals into the skin and interfere with collagen production and also possible infection. Needling for the purpose of introducing products into the skin is not something I recommend. If you want HA under the skin then get dermal filler injections. Use a single ingredient antiseptic oil, such as jojoba or camellia. All you really need to apply is something to prevent moisture loss and prevent infection. No actives.

@FLGators ...just wondering if you feel going to a professional is worth it? Or have you considered doing it at home. There are many videos, detailed specifications. My spa offered 3 treatments at $900...pricey...but everything they do is up there.

If you are going to attempt doing it at home then I highly recommend that you get a book about microneedling. Getting info from videos and articles online is not the best thing to do. There's a lot of misinformation and that's not a good thing.

@SilleeMee Not sure what I'll do...besides I'm tooooo busy to try anything right now. I'm clearing out my deceased parents house and praying to sell it. I did see my derm for something and that's how all this came about. So when I'm ready, I'll consider all case scenarios, and love hearing from you all who have experience with this treatment.
