How To Find Your Perfect Blush and Lip Color

I have never heard of this but maybe many of you have.

I saw this on youtube and on the Rachel Ray show she had a beauty segment showing the same thing.

Pull down your lower lip and the inside color would be the color blush you would use. I can't imagine doing this in the store though. You may look silly.

What are your thoughts.

Many years ago I heard this during a time when colors were done with the premise that your hair, skin, eyes (multiple colors) and lip tones are flattering to wear so clothing doesn't clash. Other colors are added to wear for accent and good to choose . This was during the 1980s. Maybe new idea to the younger set?

I was told to put the lipstick on your finger tip and rub in then put your finger tip by your inner lip. I have done it at home and one gets to know what are generally good shades and what will not flatter. I can't do mauves, purples, bright pink, browns so avoid those in lipstick and blush.

I don't think there is a perfect color and I would not limit myself to one color or spend time and money looking for perfection.

It's trial and error for me---I was given a blush in a beauty bag years ago---was from Elizabeth Arden and called Peach Sorbet---- and that has been my go to ever since--have 2 more stashed as it isn't easy to find. I do use other more pinky shades--lipstick is a whole other beast--but I do have a few that I like. Mostly they were also in various beauty bags and most of them I trashed as well.

Years ago I read about doing this for lipstick. Of course who uses one lipstick; but I do this for my go to lip color.

That's an interesting method, but probably not 100% foolproof, for various factors.

I own every shade of RMS HydraBlush and they all work for me. I consider myself a medium neutral. When I first tried the Pomegranate Fizz, I thought it was over the top but now I know how to apply it. I can wear all colors of clothing. It's probably wrong, but I choose my blush shade to coordinate with my top. I do the same with my lipsticks.

Yes, I've heard that 'color-of-the-inside-of-lips' before from more than one person. I've done that before and it does work to find the most natural color but not so much as en enhancing or vivid color. It's the MLBB sort of thing for lippies.

For me, the issue has become needing to have more color as mine has faded.

My stylist is able to get a perfect blonde for me hair.

In blush, I'm finding that red colors, especially during the summer, give a sun-kissed glow!
Same with lips, although the gloss I use has a bronze tone to it!

Well that certainly wouldn't work for me. Mine are nonexistent...LOL! They faded away years ago and never came back. I even asked my doctor about it one time and she said it was a hormonal thing to have them fade with age.

I basically use the same color blush which is a pink/mauve tone. Not a ballet pink by any means. But, I will wear a peachy tone if I'm wearing something peachy. I did that Sunday.

Also, when one goes gray, they need to change up their makeup and possibly even wardrobe or they will look washed out. A friend experienced that when she went gray. Her hairdresser eased her into the change, but when she finally cut off the last of her color, it was a bit shocking. She has very pretty gray hair, but I had trouble adjusting to it. She even had someone tell her she needed to wear more color on her face.

@SilleeMee Mine are light too and if I got a lipstick color that matched them it would wash me out! Plus, I wish mine were hot pink since that's my signature lipstick color!

@SilleeMee Yep faded away here too.. but age spots, freckles, cherry anginomas, and granuloma annulare have shown up here just as bright and fresh as can be..🤨

Silly idea, because everyone has different pigmentation in their lips. Isn’t it better to just apply it and have a better idea and more fool proof?

It must be close to 30 years ago ... trying to find to find the right blush for my fair (light beige) skin.

I asked the advice of one of the women at the makeup counter and she directed me to a light peachy/pink and I bought the shade she recommended. Still using that same color.
