If you follow the program you will lose weight. The food isn't great - tabasco sauce can become your BFF. If you go into it with a strong mindset, you can do it, at least for awhile. I lost 30lbs on it a few years back, but slowly gained it back. My fault, though, not Nutrisystem.

With QVC's return policy this is a good way to try it. Then if you want to stay on it but select your own menu, you can order the gift card from Costco and customize your order.

Whatever you decide, good luck. I know way too well the frustration of losing and gaining the same lbs.

I guess it's about beauty. I didn't make a weight loss resolution but I am sick of gaining/losing the same ten pounds. Nutrisystem though expensive, looks pretty easy. Lots of very mixed reviews on the web. People love it or hate it. What do you think?

Check your local Walmart for a 5-8 day boxed set of Nutrisystem meals and see what you think of the food, then decide. It needs a lot of additional items from the grocery store, like fruit, veggies, and yogurt, so you need to add that in to the cost of the Nutrisystem food, which makes it more expensive than it looks. The food isn't bad. I tried the Walmart box and found it easy and the food good, but I couldn't bring myself to pay the higher costs for a month of food at a time. I would be happier if I could buy it 1-2 two weeks at a time. You can do that with the Walmart pack, but then you're stuck with the same meals every single week, which would drive me off the plan due to boredom.

Nutrisystem entrees and how much people like or dislike them depend upon individual tastes. There are some I disliked which others like, just as in a restaurant. You do add veggies and proteins, and there are free foods you can use. In addition, there are approved products of minimal calories that you can add to the foods for an accent if you prefer that. I actually like the food I order but mine is customized directly from NS, although I first tried it via QVC. I do not like to good and I like the shelf stable nature of the food. It is so easy to come home at the end of the day and all you have to do is nuke the box and add some veggies. I've lost 50 pounds on it and still get an order every 3 months because I like what I order.

I bought this package one year - thinking I'd give it a try. The food, IMO, was awful. I tried it for a week and returned it. Since you have to buy real food to augment it - salad, fruit, etc and I simply hated the food, I decided I might as well just pay attention and eat better to begin with rather than use the processed food.

I have people I work with who have used nutrisystem buying directly and they were able to choose their food selections - that seemed to be better. However I have noticed that both of them regained their weight once they went off the program.

People who use Nutrisystem do it to learn portion control and healthy eating habits for the rest of their life. This doesn't mean that they can't indulge in something such as a high caloried dessert, etc. but they know when to stop. You learn limits and the habits that are to carry you throughout life. The problem is that many people focus upon weight loss only and when they reach their goal, they relax and gradually start gaining back. This is typical of any weight loss program.

I say yay. I lost 45 lbs last year and after a hiatus in November and December (during which I maintained my weight loss) I am planning to get back on it. Hoping for another 45 this year.

My hubby lost 60 lbs, and has also maintained it.

No the food isn't fabulous, but it's not bad. I really like at least 60% of it, and can tolerate 30%, 10%, I just can't face (beef stew and pea soup, things I don't eat normally). Really like the breakfasts and most of the lunches.

Anyway, I think the value of the system is that you will learn tools to help you maintain your weight loss, in part because you will be eating smaller amounts more frequently AND even when you are loosing weight you will be making some of your own food choices to supplement what they send you.

Also, I don't know how old you are, but given my age etc., it was slow (I averaged just over 1lb a week) but it worked.

My goal was to maintain my weight from Nov 1 to Jan 1, and I think the tools/system I learned helped me achieve this.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Michele

Have never tried NS but am always tempted when I see the presentations but then I get smart and don't submit. My boss, who is a chiropractor with diabetes, used NS a few years ago to lose about 35 lbs and continues to occasionally use it to maintain her weight. I've seen the food, doesn't look appetizing to me. And the sodium level is a real deterrent - I have heart disease and that amount of sodium would not be good for me.
