The No Color Eye Lid

Has anyone used the "no color" eye lid I see on influencers? They do appear to have a powder or soft covering on their lids as well as thick dark lashes and eyeliner.

LOL, that's my eyes today! I don't watch "influencers " but through the years, I often have just worn Mascara alone. My eyelashes are very dark and long from my glaucoma med.

@ECBG I have been trying for years to achieve the no color lid. I cannot seem to get it right. I have to use cream eyeshadow as my lids are now too crepey for powder. If anyone out there knows how to do this lid please post it.

I need a neutral color shadow on my lids to hide the darkness. I use original bisque. How about just a finishing powder.

If I'm going to wear makeup, that's how I do it normally. Eyeshadow weighs my eyes down.

I just can't wear a dark color on my lid. It just doesn't look right. So, I always use some sort of light color there, whether it be a light beige type or sometimes a light pink or light yellow. But, I always use a darker shade in the crease.

I always start by using a bit of concealer and highlighter on my lids and around my eyes to even and brighten the area. If I'm in a hurry or feeling lazy, I will skip eye shadow but use mascara and eyeliner on top lashes and lid only.

My mascara and eye shadow colors are very neutral. I use black brown mascara, various shades of brown for eye shadow, and a bronze eyeliner. I have blue eyes and these tones bring out my eye color. I don't really like anything super dark and heavy on my eyes. On my fair skin it's just too much IMO. I've always been a more natural makeup gal.

The suggestion is a neutral eyelid primer. It brightens.

A finishing powder would rub off my deep set eyes.

I often use Tatcha "The Pearl" as a base on my eyelids to even out the coloration on my lids. I sometimes use a neutral powder shadow over that or color just depending on what I want to do that day. And I often wear liner and mascara whether or not I wear a color (or 3) on my lids. I don't watch uTube, so don't really care what "influencers" are doing there.

I recommended MAC's Paint Pot to @ECBG . In comes in several shades. I use Painterly which does take away all discoloration. It's also a primer that dries down quickly. I don't need to. powder over it. You can also find waterproof stick eye shadows in nude shades.

@Janey2 I achieve this look with the lightest shade of Dr. Perricone no eyeshadow eyeshadow. I place a few dots on my lower lid (lashline to crease) and then smooth it out with a sponge tip applicator. The only other eye makeup I wear is Tartelette XL tubing mascara. My eyelashes really pop against the light lid.

I mix a couple of concealers, Elf hydrating camo concealer and Lancome Effacernes waterproof concealer (now discontinued), and get my perfect color. Immediately powder the surface, I do one eye at a time, my powder brush is loaded and tapped off before I start the process.

@ECBG - I've never watched an influencer, but I have done a nude eyelid!

I use Anastasia eye primer, which gives me a no shadow look. Sometimes I put Laura Geller's French Vanilla over it.

I usually do a neutral lid, with different shadows.

I think IMHO that as for me older and always had crepey lids or dry lids a small amount of MAC cream eyeshadows, I think they are called paint pots? Geesh had this for a while still creamy and they give a nice cream neutral eye. Makeup artists even ones that were on Q back then use this shade. I happen to like it and not put ALL over just a nice wash with my finger over less crepey areas. Many things like this aka light beige primers or a lighter shadow are used and I see them on QVC to show off lashes with no liner so the background lid is blank exaggerating the long lashes. Anytime it's a light backdrop lashes will stand out as many can see on q's shows. I don't do it much really but do keep Painterly on hand always. Primers emphasize my dry crepy lids since my 40's..ugh no idea why?

I could be wrong, but I assumed original Bisque is Bare Minerals. It is what I use.

The influencers are showing something that's been around for decades. As I'm watching Mackenzie Westmore this morning, I think of the number of glamour movie eyes done by her uncles that often emphasized the lashes only, but there was color on the lids. Most likely working on so many B&W films may have been the reason for this because lids with too much color on them may have shown a funky hue. That said, throughout the years sophisticated eye makeup has relied on skin tone hues and soft colors.

I have used the shadow color Camel from the Bobbi Brown collection in every makeup done on my eyes for more than 25 years. Even if I add other richer colors, Camel is always on my lids first or last. When worn alone, it's barely detectable on me. I love it!
