Can a bad haircut cause you hair to frizz

I went for Supercuts for a haircut about 10 days ago, I washed and dried it over the weekend and frizz a thon. Granted I do have lots of hair. I am not thinking of going for a keratin treatment to control it. Please do not comment about my choice of where I got my hair cut. Thanks

A haircut won't change the texture of your hair. There's likely just an increase in humidity in your area.

I don't see how a haircut could change the texture of your hair. Maybe there is more humidity where you live now that it is getting warmer...I use Wen as a conditioner on the ends and sexy hair brand healthy oil on damp hair, that seems to help frizz.

I think your hair looks good, doesn't matter where you go to get it cut, it is about the hairstylist. I have thick, coarse, dry and color treated hair which is prone to frizzing in humidity. I suggest using moisturizing hair masks and conditioners.

@I am still oxox My hair is curlier on the sides so if my hair is cut shorter it does have a tendency to frizz a little.

In my opinion--- YES IT CAN! I have frizzy curly hair. Twice in my lifetime I got razor cuts. Oh my-----it took til the next haircut to get it back in my usuall frizziness that I can deal with!

My mostly gray hair has a lot of natural wave. When I wore it in a layered, chin-length bob it would frizz if I didn't blowdry it...and sometimes humidity would make it frizz even if I did.

I now have a short cut with many layers, and it's never frizzed...even in the worst South Carolina humidity. The humidity just emphasizes the waviness.

All this to say @I am still oxox , you might want to consider a different kind of cut. I never thought I would like short hair on me, but I love it! No blowdrying, no hairspray, just some gel mixed with Tweak'd Revitalizing Mist. Comb it into place, let it air-dry, fluff and go! Sometimes I use Bedhead Headrush Spray (on driy hair) for extra shine.

Only downside is I have to get it cut every month, instead of every other month.

@vermint I have no layers just a chin length bob. I have had pixie cuts and do not like the way I look in them so I will opt for Keratin I have had it before and my hair loves it

I was going to say the same thing. If the ends were either razor cut or texturized in some way, then yes, it can fizz your hair.

Probably caused by the extra humidity. You might see if there's Hair Botox available where you are rather than doing a Keratin treatment. Less damaging.

Never heard of hair botox and never had damage from a Keratin treatment. I am off to Goggle Hair botox

Hairdresser here:

If you have course or textured, curly or wavy hair and it is cut on the bias with a razor or even a scissor your hair could look frizzy.

This type of hair should always have the ends cut blunt.

There are a lot of things that can make your hair frizz but a haircut won't change the texture. Maybe a really bad cut will just emphasize the fizzy look.

I would try a few things to calm down the frizz....hair glaze or gloss, anti- frizz serum, hair mask to smooth out your hair, or a hair oil that you add with a very light hand to smooth it down.

I want to add that if you don't want to go the full keratin process which is not only expensive but can make one's hair look very flat for about a month or so , I have tired Keratin Salon Direct that I first purchased here. It's mild and easy to use. I'm not sure if the Q still sells it but one can get it from their website.

I still have a bottle left over and even though my hair is very straight, it is fine which can get a bit frizzy when it's very humid out. I will use that last bottle before I go on vacation to make my hair easier to manage while away.

Are you using the pool where you are staying? When I use our pool a lot my hair gets dried out.

Very interesting @haddon9 . I bought Keratin Salon Direct from their own website and it didn't last more than a few days for me. I regularly get keratin and now Pura Luxe treatments, but tried to do my own during the pandemic. I wish I could send you all my leftover product. 😊

@Tori3569 Thanks! My hair is pretty straight except occasionally it will get a bit frizzy if my hair is both dry (it usually isn't) and it's humid out so my hair does well with this product.

On the other hand, Ihave gotten a professional keratin a few times and it really makes my hair super flat with no body for at least 4 weeks. Looks terrible but then at about month 2 it looks great!

@I am still oxox Maybe part of it could be the water where you are staying? We have hard water, and if I am traveling, and they have soft water, I swear it changes how my hair reacts!
