I think it was Eve Pearl who used to say something similar about applying blush on the apples to up under the eyes. Gives a more youthful appearance.

Many times here I have been told that you shouldn't apply blush to the apples of your cheeks, but I like it that way, so that's what I do.

Now, I don't watch Influencers, but I occasionally seek them mentioned here, so I'll name drop one. Patrick Ta was on a segment of Good Morning America on MAY 4 talking about Met Gala makeup glam for the rest of us. He wasn't talking about over-the-top makeup; he was talking about everyday makeup.

In one of the 3 demos he did, he said he liked to apply a blush to the apples of the cheeks. Yes!!! He mentioned that most sweep blush all the way up into the temple, but he prefers to apply it to the apples and blending into the undereye. This, he feels, is a more natural, "like you're actually blushing".

He also mentioned doing this with a powder blush first, followed by a cream blush. He said most do it opposite of that, but he feels it melds together better for a more natural look. I've never combined two blushes like that, but makes sense to me. Might give it a try,

I would link to the segment, but I guess we can't do that anymore even if there are no ads, so you'll have to do your own search. Try "Patrick Ta on GMA". The first one that came up for me was a shopping link for some of his products, If you bring that up, then do a Search withing GMA's site for Patrick Ta, it should be the first one to come up in Living.

When people blush naturally, it shows on the apples of the cheeks and forehead mostly. Sometimes I do swipe my blush on my forehead and a bit on my nose, too. Cosmetics should mimic that so blush should be applied to the apples of cheeks at least but no too far down on them to avoid drawing the face downward.

I kind of think it depends on face shape and maybe the size of your apples. LOL! I will be the first to admit that I've tried blush every which way on my face and I've yet to feel I've found the sweet spot. But never the less, I do love my blush!!! 😊

I've never really worried about the "rules" for applying blush, and I think it can look great done either way as long as someone doesn't put on "clown" style rounds on the cheeks.
