Anyone have this with Asthma?

I put vitamin C cream on my face last night...from M. Asam.

Very nice product. Woke up a few hours later with an asthma flareup!

Not sure if it was from the fragrance in it...it smells so nice.

But I had to wash my face and then I was ok in a bit!

I have this issue with other products I use at night and wondering if anyone else has issues if you have asthma too.

Fragrance is a known trigger for asthma attacks.

I thought vitamin C was best used in the morning. Love M Asam though and don't find their products overly fragrant. When I first started using it, I tried the green bottle line and it was highly fragrant to me and just seemed too rich for me also, so I never used anything from that line again except the eye cream which I didn't find highly fragranced and I credit that cream with actually removing the fine lines under my eyes. They have since reformulated all their original products (as well as adding in more lines), but I could never bring myself to try the green line again.

Sadly, they are beginning to price themself out of my range. I can pretty much only buy them on sale now.

Around here are having round two of pollen. Could that be a factor?

@CherryHugs Many, many products affect my breathing. I cannot use anything with fragrance. My hair spray is unscented, and I spray the brush in the guest bath closing the door as I leave to return to my bathroom. I do not spray my hair. The list goes on and on. I have no doubt it was the fragrance that caused your issues.

Be wary. It is really better for those of us with issues to shop for new products in person where there are testers available. If you smell a scent, skip it. There are products that do not have added fragrance. Once you find a product that works, use it. Leave the experimentation to those without breathing issues or sensitive skin.

As an asthmatic, I can only use beauty/body products with a Citrus, Coconut or Vanilla fragrance.

... And even some of those can be so strong that they will trigger an attack.

And let's not even talk about those awful "Scented" garbage bags - Yuck!

Yes fragrance is an asthma trigger for me.

Keeping fragrance to a minimum helps me like using unscented clothes detergent, no perfume etc. Also staying away from cats, car exhaust helps too.

Did you just develop asthma?

I never had an asthma attack from Vitamin C, but it did cause tiny itchy red bumps on my skin after one application so I don't use it anymore.

Lots of scents can flare up my asthma. I use mostly unscented products. Walking down the detergent aisle, fresh cut flowers, and scented deodorants and soaps will make me wheeze. I never go in candle shops or those bath and body stores.

I had to move at church the other day because the woman in the pew behind me had on perfume. Dogs are ok, but I have to avoid cats. Spring pollen is also a trigger for me. It can be a real adventure going out into the world.

Had the same problem several times at church when someone wears strong perfume... Last week an elderly fellow had on way too much Old Spice that I had to hold a tissue up to my nose to breathe.

Since the pandemic, I stopped wearing perfume. The smell of lemon or Orange rind or banana peel in the kitchen trash cause me to gag. Never used to be this way !

The pollen has been so awful this year my allergies really went into overdrive! I don't tend to get hay fever for weeks at a time but only on occasion and it can last for a day or two.

I honestly couldn't stop sneezing for two days that even after taking an antihistamine I had to put a damp wash cloth over my face (like a mask) to tone it down so I could sleep, which does work.

I woke up the next morning and had a red eye from a broken blood vessel from sneezing so much. Thank goodness that's all over with now!

Scents, even lightly scented is a big NO for my asthma. I avoid my triggers. Even one whiff and I'm outta there! So yes, the scent could have been the culprit. It's just not worth it. When you can't breathe nothing else matters.

Yesss why do these companys add such strong fragrance to their products??? There have been other M Asam I couldnt use due to the strong scent!

Ohhh I didnt know that Vit C was best applied in the AM! Guess I need to read directions lol.

Scents do bother me alot and I need to try and find those that dont contain any!

Pollen levels here have been in the very high level for the past 2 weeks

You may want to look at Paula's Choice skincare products. They are fragrance free.
