I'm amping up my skincare game

I'm buying The Ordinary's Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA Hyperpigmentation Serum, Argireline Solution 10% Serum for Facial Wrinkles, Matrixyl* 10% + HA.

I'd like to know who has used these serums and your thoughts positive and negative.
I'd like to know the ways you found best to use them AM/PM.
Any thoughts are welcome 😁

I have used the Argireline and Matrixyl 10%. It is my understanding that Argireline (AM only) addresses dynamic wrinkles particularly around the eyes while the Matrixyl addresses static wrinkles. I wanted to try the Argireline for the vertical wrinkles above my lips even though I read multiple places that it wouldn't be very successful for that, and I found that to be correct. I dropped it from my routine.

I like the Matrixyl 10% (AM and PM). I like the feel of it and the ingredients, which are Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 (Matrixyl 3000) and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 (Matrixyl Synthe'6). I have not seen benefit from it yet (have been using almost 4 months), but I asked about peptides last week on this forum, and many posters said to keep going with it, because it's doing things behind the scene. (paraphrasing) It's cheap enough, so I am going to keep using it.

Hello, I'm very new at posting on the forum so please forgive any bloopers I make. To address your questions I believe if you go on The Ordinarys' website they will tell you when to use each product. If you want them to they will also make suggestions based on your skincare goals. Good for you amplifying your skincare routine. My own work-cents would be wear sunblock (if you don't) 365 days a year. I put an SPF 50 on my face everyday for the last forty some years. I don't rely on sunblock in make-up or skincare. I'm going to be brave and post a picture of when I was about 63 years old. I'm 67 now. Please be kind. I have not have had and work done. I want to thank all the people here that are kind and generous to share what works for them and new products. Thank you very much. You have help me enormously over the years!!!! You notice the brown shadow on my upper eyelid. Those babies were heading south fast so since dark pulls back and light pulls forward, bring on the brown. Please be kind a year ago I slipped on a half frozen onion in a famous big box stor and broke my back. Two surgeries and a lot of pain and suffering. Please be kind. I just want to show what a difference taking care of your skin makes.

@Kymheart1 you look beautiful and at least 10 years younger than your actual age! How smart you were to use sunscreen. I didn't and helped my dad in the hay fields on an open tractor every summer growing up. Loved getting that tan! ha,ha Fast forward to laying out, tanning beds, ugh... Now go yearly for skin checks and have had numerous places removed before they could turn into skin cancer. And I am really aging. How stupid wanting to be tan at the price of wrinkles, large pores, and sun spots now. Trying to turn back the hands of time is much more difficult than just using prevention in the first place. Sigh.

@Ainhisg Don't be too hard on yourself. If you're like me, when I grew up, and during my early adult years, I don't remember hearing the importance of spf and protecting skin from the sun's rays. As a young person, I was in the sun everyday in a pool or at the beach without sunscreen. As a young adult, I continued being in the sun without protection. Fishing with my dad and beach time all day without sunscreen rather horrifies me today, but we just were not wise about protecting our skin. As a teen, having sunburned skin or a tan were what was thought to be ideal. Today, decades later, my skin is pretty good, but I use spf now!

No one should be hard on themselves about sunblock. The only reason I knew is because I had a boyfriend in my early 20’s that was thirteen years older than me. He was very concerned about looking older because his hair was thinning. So I was curious. What makes some people look older than others? Hmmmm I came upon it. Their skin at that point I began to do research. That was how I learned that the UV rays breakdown collagen and elastin. Before that I loved to lay out in the sun. Plus a suntan was in style. So if I didn’t have that boyfriend I still would have probably still be laying out in the sun!🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞😉😉😉😉

As for myself, I'm currently using Neutrogena spf 60 with E...I do switch around, but im really liking this one...not greasy, and make up goes on with no problem.

What do you use SPF now that when I was younger and in my teens I did not. I never even heard of sunscreen back then!
I had been using The Ordinary's lactic acid+ HA last year, ran out and kinda fell out of using it. I'm diligent with cleansing and moisturizing, even serums, but I'm thinking the cheapo serums I'm picking up at random here and there aren't cutting it any longer. So back to a more aggressive plan!
Any good skincare you've discovered lately??

I just started using that one (Neutrogena). The one in the pink container that is very slightly tinted. I switch around as well. I really like the Korea sunblocks. Most of them as some of you know are more like a watery gel. That sounds bad but it’s a good thing. They don’t have the white east and take forever to sink in. I would like to say,” Oh yes I was very smart”. But nope if it wasn’t for Carson (former boyfriends) anxiety about aging. I would still be at the pool on the lounge chair with my bottle of baby oil. Plus let’s face it no matter your age or skin condition a smile on a persons face makes them look great.

Thank you so very much. But I need to thank my parents, grandparents, and God. I am second generation Irish so part of it is in the genes. My mom was a model back in the day at all the big name stores that are no longer there. That was in downtown Detroit. But mom had terrible back acne for a while. She was all lined up to do a fashion show with other models of wedding dresses. Well part of her back acne showed. She got so upset and took the bus home before she was supposed to go on. My poor grandma was in the audience wondering when it was her daughter’s turn. Mom was so upset she left with out telling my grandma. When I went through period I got such bad hormonal chin acne. That after trying everything my dermatologist had to put me on a1,000 mg. a day of Amocillin (sp) I was beginning to get some scars. As we all know our skin doesn’t heal like it did when we were younger. Thank goodness Tazorac eventually cleared the scars. I still use Tazorac. I used to be able to use it on my eyelids!!!!😳😳😳 I can’t do that anymore. I asked the derma about it at the time. He said that’s ok you won’t get wrinkles there. But don’t do it without talking to your doctor. I’m not giving advice. I’m just telling you what I did. So please don’t follow my lead. Goodnight everyone. Thank you for your kind words. I need them. Back in the hospital. They don’t know why but I’m not maintaining my blood oxygen levels. I never smoked or was around second hand smoke. I do have asthma. But until I went through menopause (finished at 56). I didn’t even need to carry a rescue inhaler for 40 years. Betty Davis and my mom were right aging is not for sissies.☺️☺️☺️

I went to CVS and got the L'Oreal Infallible concealer to try, a Revlon color stay matte lite crayon in " take flight", and two LA Girl products to try: velvet blush in a fat short stick called "glimmer" & perfect precision lip liner in " blushing". I got my usual deals. 😉 I've only used the LA Girl lip liner. I used it this morning and was blown away. It's smooth, velvety and colors like a cross between a liner and lipstick. I will use that baby a LOT. Check it out. Under $5.
especially let me know about that blush, ok?
I do have the Ulta app and will look at those J Cat items!! Have you been good??

I've heard that about the Korean sunscreens. Will you post your faves? I'm interested in a sunscreen called Tula but I don't have it nor do I know if that's a Korean company that makes it.
