THINKING OF TRYING A PRIMER TO COVER PORES....

Any suggestions? I'm very fair/porcelain, so I'd rather not use anything tinted, and non greasy. Doesn't pill with make up?

@Dazlin - ELF puts out a liquid poreless putty primer in a tube not the little container. PoerProfessional from Benefit is good. Thank Me Later from Elizabeth Mott (Amazon) gets very good reviews. Rimmel Stay Matte (Amazon) has gotten good reviews. I have tried the ELF and the PoreProfessional from Benefit and they work well. The other two i have but haven't tried yet. While they do help and do work well, I have yet to find one that toally covers but they do make them look better. Good luck, hope you find one that works for you!

@Dazlin I have never used a primer that did anything for me unless it broke me out.

They are really just another step of skincare.

I'm not trying to discourage you from trying them & if you find something good, please, post here!

I don't know what you are using for skincare/makeup but I have noticed that my pores are less visible if I apply my liquid makeup with my fingers & a pressing motion.

My powder foundation looks much nicer & more pores are way less noticable if I use the Real Techniques Miracle Powder Foundation Sponge.

@Dazlin Smashbox primer is excellent. I like the original, but they have specialized primers including one that minimizes pores. I have only used their Original formula. Smashbox cosmetics were developed to be photographed. Take a look at their website to see the assortment of primers.

I was thinking about you yesterday because I bought the Revlon Illuminance tinted serum. I bought two bottles of the the Rev Illuminance foundation and gave a friend one of them and SHE LOVES it. Have you tried the serum? It has a less glowy finish ; it dries to a powder finish. I really like it.
Anyway what skin type do you have? I have dry skin and I love using my Bare Minerals good hydrations primer. My foundation looks really good after it. Really gives a beautiful finish. I even use a tiny amount under my eyes before concealer.
If your skin isn't dry but more on the combo/oily side, I recommend the new NYX primer sunscreen spf 30. I bought it and it gives a high end looking finish but was a little drying for my skin type.
I hope you find one you like. I recommend trying a TJM store for something to try if you are looking for a higher end primer. It's just cheaper if you are experimenting and they take returns.
Walmart carries that NYX and they take returns as well.
I bought my BM primer from TJM and it was only $9. It was a bargain and I love it. Good luck finding one you like 👍

@Dazlin I use Dhc velvet skin coat as a primer. I use foundation but have noticed when i finish off with Tarte face tape waterproof 16 hour powder, my pores look a lot smaller.

I use Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer. I don't use it all over. I use NYX The Marshmallow Primer all over and apply the Tarte primer only in areas where I have large pores with a small flat brush along the sides of my nose and on the chin.

@Dazlin This is from a Japanese skin care company every bit as good as Tatcha but much less expensive called DHC, and this is their Velvet Skin Coat and it is incredible! Matte finish, silky, not oily, little goes a long way, and yes it feels like velvet. It's like a pore filler and mattifier and primer in one. I think Tatcha copied alot of their products, you see similarities, as they were the first on the scene. No expensive packaging etc, just good products reasonably priced. Try it, and I promise you will love it.

I'm really liking the Tatcha primer/sunscreen. It only has SPF 30 but I don't get much exposure. I got 2 tubes for the price of one through QVC.

I second Benefit's Porefessional. That works really well for me.

Back in the day I promoted Mally's Original Poreless Prep. It was her best selling product and had a yearly super duper sized one. It seemed like EVERYONE love it. Now Tarte owns the formula. They are identical in every way.

I also rec Peter Thomas Roth's Firmx Primer. When used correctly his IMO actually does what a primer is supposed to do.

@NYCTem77 , For spot treatment, I tested the Benefit Porefesional primer against NYX Pore Flller Targeted Stick side by side and couldn't tell any difference between the two. So, if you don't need it all over, the NYX is much cheaper. I was able to get a mini Porefessional at Ulta since I wasn't willing to pay the price for the full sized one without trying it out first.

I have since moved on from the NYX as I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Thank you for the Real Techniques miracle powder sponge recommendation! I picked one up at Walmart yesterday and I think it will work well for me. I have a lot of bare escentuals foundation that I do not use as much as I would like as I cannot get a good look with a brush now. My skin is older and since I have lost some elasticity, my pores are more noticeable.

I was trying to use a velvet powder puff but I am not really happy with that either. Will be trying this new sponge.🤞🤞🤞
