How long to let eye serum (ceramide) sit before moisturizing?

Good morning beauties. What is your advice as to how long to wait before moisturizing? I am using Elizabeth Arden. It seems to take a long time to be absorbed.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

I don't wait long. My eye cream goes on right after my serum dries down (a few seconds)

I wait until it dries, which is usually less than a minute.

@Lilysmom1 The only serum I use is Vit. C in the morning. It dries fairly quickly. I then apply my moisturizer, wait 5 minutes and then SPF. I try to let all this skincare dry down while I do something else (breakfast, hair, etc.). By that time it's dried down and ready for a light application of makeup.

I keep one of these little fans under my sink. It helps get things to dry quickly especially when I'm in a hurry.

@Lilysmom1 You may be using too much.

You should apply a light layer. It only has to cover the skin, not saturate it. That extra will sit on the top of the skin.

I apply my moisturizer. Tap my eye cream around my eyes.

Get out my concealer/foundation/powder, whatever I am going to use next & can go right on to the next step.

If you are using a heavier product & you like the results that it is giving you, just use that product at night & use something lighter in the morning.

@Dusty1 @Shanus @SilleeMee @CalminHeart @JeanLouiseFinch et al, thanks for the feedback. Pretty sure the answer is I am applying too much. I am using the capsules. I either have to use less or cover a wider area. It also makes sense it is too much because the first time I used it, I had an issue with it migrating into my eyes.

The fan idea is a good one!

@Dusty1 , I agree and think I could easily get away with half but will probably just use the rest over the rest of my face...they are so small having one open would be prone to spillage.

@Shanus My vitamin C says to use at night. Well, I did that after I got it - put it on before my retinoid. Then I heard not to use it at night so I stopped and used it in the a.m. In a few days I saw my skin not looking nearly as good as when I used it at night-didn't know what to do. Then I remembered something you said-no matter the instructions, if what you're using is working for you, stick with that. At least I think it was you! So I'm back to using C in the evening.

@Judaline Apply the Vit. C whenever it works for you. I've always read to use it in the morning under your SPF. I find it too irritating to use with other actives at night.

Wow. I kind of wish I hadn't looked up the ingredients. A couple of things in there I try to avoid. I got the Timeless brand with ferulic acid because of the good reviews on our forum. For some reason I didn't read the ingredients first. Well, I'll finish the bottle and look for another one. So! What'll happen if I do use one with ascorbic acid before my retinoid? Is it bad for my system or just for my skin. Thanks

Ascorbic acid has a low pH meaning it is very acidic and that will cause other ingredients layered with it to become inactive such as retinol and peptides. If you are going to use ascorbic acid then use it at opposite ends of the clock from your other actives such as retinoids/ peptides and not at the same time as your ascorbic acid serum.

@Lilysmom1 Just in case you didn't know. Dr. Denese's Hydroshield has similar ingredients but absorbs much more quickly as well as being totaally matte as well. Mom used to use the Elizabeth Arden caps but I sent her a bottle of Hydroshield and she hasn't stopped using it since. Just an FYI.
