Rinse for grey hair?

I have been going grey (no more coloring my hair) for about 1 year. It is slowly going grey and the back has almost no gray. I think I would like a rinse to use when I wash my hair to make it shiny, not sure shiny is the word but I am thinking it looks a bit blah.

I don't have another hair appointment for 3 weeks and didn't think to ask the stylist when I was there a week ago...any suggestions?

I use Pantene shampoo & conditioner made for grey hair. Makes my hair soft and takes away the blah for me. I buy it from Amazon, just search for Shampoos for grey hair. they have some to choose from.

@Mom2Dogs My natural gray is like yours. The back is darker than my original color, but turned a blah dark charcoal. It is dull. It is definitely all pepper. The salt is in the front. I hope you find some answers. I will be watching.

I use a purple shampoo and conditioner once a week, it's from L'Oréal and will use a little of BioSilk therapy to give it some shine. Just a small amount.

I haven't colored my hair in two years, like yours it's still darker in the back. I've had people ask if I highlight my hair.

My hair is lighter brown with gray strands through the brown with gray at the hairline. Everyone says it looks like I have highlighted my hair there. No it's gray. I have not put any color on my hair in over 3 years. It's just taking forever to turn gray. It's more brown than gray.

I don't always use the same shampoo but I do use Derma-E scalp relief on my scalp. My scalp is really dry. It makes my hair look shiny, not greasy. My hair no longer looks dull is what I call it while it's turning gray.

Have been using Aveeno Oat Milk Blend Moisturizing shampoo lately. It's seems to be helping my dry scalp.

Take a look at John Frieda's shampoos and conditioners for brunette hair.

My hair is brown in back and getting grayer in front. I use both the Brilliant Brunette and the Midnight Brunette shampoo and conditioner. (I get them from Amazon by subscription.)

It tones the gray just enough so it blends in with the brown hair. Not expensive and no commitment .... it washes out with your next shampoo.

I've been alternating between the two for about 4 years now ... makes going gray easier.

Roux Fanci Full is a temporary rinse that comes in different colors. I always use the White Minx (52)

I use it myself when I highlight my hair and it comes out a touch brassier at first. Once I wash my hair a few times the color is perfect and I stop using the rinse.

I used it on my mom all the time with her grey hair. You can buy it almost anywhere. It's been around forever.

@luvmyteddy4 I know my mother used White Minx. Thank you for reminding me. I had completely forgotten about Roux. Her hairdresser had those bottles on shelves above the shampoo bowl. There were a lot of colors.

I've been grey for 15 years and my go to for shiny hair is Cantu cream, just a touch after I shampoo. A container easily lasts at least six months.

I have dull gray hair, so smarty-pants me decided to get silver highlights in an attempt to add a little brightness. it was so pretty for a couple of weeks, then my highlights started turning yellow. I've gone in for toner twice but it didn't help. purple shampoo hasn't helped either.

will Roux Ultra White Minx take away the yellow?

@MariotaMurielle I believe it does help with yellow. I am fairly certain that is why my mother used it. There are hairdressers here. Hopefully one of them can answer your question definitively.

I use Matrix purple shampoo and Matrix purple leave-in conditioner. They help a lot and leave my hair soft but not too soft. They also brighten my grey.

@MariotaMurielle Both White Minx and Ultra White Minx will help tone down yellow in gray hair.

You can also try Roux Silver Lining. It not only tones down the yellow, but adds a pretty silver color.

When you wear your hair a natural gray or white, you need to be careful with products and heat.

Hair Spray, leave in conditioners, sprays and foams left in the hair, then scortched with a curling iron is impossible to remove.

If your water is rusty, it will yellow your hair, as will some oral and injection medications you take.

You can buy Aloe Rid shampoo products....Amazon has them. They will remove medications and detox your hair. That also keeps the hair from yellowing and being dull.

Info: Sometimes drugs tests are done by checking strands of hair. The drugs will show up even it it has been months since you've taken them.

Some Aloe Rid products can be so through, that your drug test will show up clean, even if you're a constant user.

Please wait until you get to your stylist. Store rinses are not organized by color seasons and you could easily get the wrong season

We had a ton of them in the backroom at the salon. lol

I also used Bashful Blonde and Frivolous Fawn as more of an ash blonde.

These Roux rinses are only temporary. They will wash out 100% with shampoo. If you go swimming or get caught in the rain, you will have drippy color running down your face. The silver and light colors aren't too bad...but the darker ones are.

L'Oréal sells a one step toning gloss called, "LeColor Gloss. It comes in a big variety of colors. I am salt and pepper and I use "silver white". You apply it to freshly washed hair, leave on for anywhere from 5-15 minutes, then rinse out. Found in drugstores, about $12. I have a pixie cut so mine has lasted about 6 applications for the box.

@Mom2Dogs .........I use Shiny Silver and Conditioner. It will keep the yellow out of your hair and give it a sheen nice color. You can buy it at Amazon or Sally's Beauty Supply.

Also search leave in shine products and many will pop up.

@MariotaMurielle ........Nothing will take the yellow out. It will need to grow out and be cut, but using purple products, I use Shiny Siliver available at Amazon or Sallys, will keep it from turning yellow as it grows out.
