Lips keep peeling!

Yikes! Suddenly my lips started peeling. I’d work on them and get them straight and clear.
Then putting on lipstick again, it’d be peeling again.

I couldn’t figure out what was happening.

Then it dawned on me. I’d recently started outlining my lips with a lip liner. I loved the way it made my lips look.

I finally figured out it was my Laura Geller lip liner. I love it, love the way it glides on.

However, I’m going to have to give it up.

Does anyone else have this problem?

My daughter can’t wear lipstick that plumps up your lips because she’s allergic to vitamin E. Perhaps that’s my problem?

I hear you! I was a lifelong lip balm junkie until Covid, then quit lipstick due to masking, and bingo no dry lips.

Toss whatever gave it to you.

I think anytime there is a peeling situation it's due to an allergy from an ingredient in the makeup. Years ago my whole face peeled for days after I used IT cosmetics serum. Not sure what I was allergic to in it but it surely was something.

I started having the same problem several years ago, and I never use lipstick at all, let alone lip liner. I finally narrowed it down to the castor oil. Given what castor oil used to be used for in "home medicine", and it's mode of operation, it's no wonder it was doing esssentially the same thing to my lips! Unfortunately, it is also a very widely used ingredient in many beauty products. I had to search far and wide for a lip balm that does not contain it, but when I did, I bought a bunch of it, and it's all I use. So far, I have not had any more episodes of peeling and cracking.

If you are not familiar with castor oil, made from castor beans (yes, the same source provides the nerve agent Ricin) and what it was used for and how it works, you can search the web and find out, I am quite sure. It's kind of horrific, when you think about it.
