Peptides are proteins which have been artificially made to have a certain shape and specific function. They are like puzzle pieces in shape and if it fits, or closely match, another protein that will cause them to interact and cause a reaction. The end result can be seen as a collagen boost or increased elasticity and even tightening in some cases depending on the type of peptide used. Generally peptides transport or signal other proteins found in the skin to do various things plus they hold water to increase volume.

Peptide Overload?

After a recent thread on peptides, I gave my skin care routine a second look and realized that I'm using a lot of products with peptides in them. I'm not having any issues using the products but was thinking it's a bit of overload.

I use the Timeless CoQ10 in the morning which has matrixyl 3000 in it. At night I'm using the Matrixyl 6 Synthe which has a peptide complex in it. Then using the Perlier Youth Creator which I just looked at the ingredient list and it has peptides in it also. Just finished using SKINN's peptide serum too. Goodness be.

Never realized until recently how many products that I use had peptides in them. Not sure why I didn't realize that before. Guess I wasn't paying attention. Thinking that as I use up current stash, I may not repurchase some.

@JudyL if the products have different peptides, maybe they're worth keeping? I need to see if I can find a master list online for the chemical names (Is that the right word?) for the different peptides. For example, Matrixyl 3000 combines palmitoyl tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7. Matrixyl synthe'6 is Palmitoyl tripeptide-38. Peptides are one of the new hip ingredients, and you'll see them on many labels. I recently bought the Gold Bond Renew Overnight Body & Face, which has peptides. On the label, I see it has palmitoyl hexapeptide-12 (Biopeptide EI). No idea if there are other peptides in it or not, as that is the one I recognized.

What are your thoughts?

Thank you so much, and I hope you're having a great day! I actually meant to get on here earlier this morning to ask you these things, but we thought we were going to have to get a new washer so were dealing with that. Thankfully, unplugging it for 60 seconds reset the motherboard, so there were sighs of relief happening over here!

@Ainhisg

Thank you for itemizing your questions...LOL! That makes it easier to answer them in the right order.

Here we go...

1) The Lab Direct Power Punch VC Serum has a shelf life of 2 years. That was verified by David himself via email. Placing it in the fridge won't extend that beyond the 2 years but it will help the product from any possible deterioration caused from fluctuations in temp and protect it from light.

2) Yes, Matrixyl as well as any other peptide can be used with the Power Punch b/c of the neutral pH.

3) Same as above.

4) It takes temperatures of 300'F and higher to denature collagen. Much hotter than anything you would consume.
