MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot-Painterly

WOW, this stuff is good as an eyeshadow primer. Tried it yesterday and my shadow stayed on all day and it didn't make my eyes water. I like it a lot. Seems my left eye is the sensitive one and will water if it doesn't like something I'm using.

Have tried the Urban Decay shadow primer and my left eye watered quite a bit. Going to try it one more time to make sure it was the primer and not something else - sometimes it is just an allergy kind of day. Next one I will try is the NARS shadow primer. Seems the more creamier ones are the ones that make my eyes water. Not sure why that is.

But so far, MAC wins.

I ordered the bare color quite recently from Belk and it had gold glitter!😕
I returned, lost $9.95 shipping and reordered the Mac prep+prime. I used it Friday. Unimpressed. It wasn't any better than the drugstore primers I own. I'm not returning. I knew I should have bought the painterly 🙄

Nice, good to hear. I've been looking for something to "nude out" my lids (they can be a little pinkish).

I've thought about trying this but I think the painterly would be too dark for my fair complexion. I need to figure out a lighter color paint pot to try.

Does the shadow cling to skin crinkles?

@GingerHead - I don't think it clung to any wrinkles and I have hooded eyes. Put other eyeshadow over it so didn't really notice. Also, I'm light skin toned and the Painterly was fine for me so think it might work for you. Applied it with a brush and it was light toned on my eyes.

I was just looking at Mac paint pot swatches online and saw this really pretty one shown in a youtube video (below). It's called "bougie" and looks to be a shifting shadow(purple/bronze/green). The lady in the video used this one shadow all over lid and then under as a liner, it was a stunning/easy look. I'd probably only use as a liner as I don't look great with a full dark lid....

Oh just looked at the reviews and some say it looks too red, but it was stunning on that lady in the video.....too bad

Years ago they made this in a tube and I loved it. I've not tried the pot version, as I worry it will dry out before I can use it all, or even most of it.

Any idea how long this stays creamy enough to spread?

@shoppingless - do you mean how long it stays creamy on the lid before you spread it out or how long it stays creamy in the pot? I can't speak to how long it stays creamy in the pot but it spread easily on my lid. However, I didn't wait to spread it either. Put it on with a brush and blended it right away.

Yes, in my researching it online they say it's a copy of, I think, they said a MAC discontinued pigment ...blue brown, not sure.

I ordered it too! I just think it looks so pretty and is worth a try. I got mine from Amazon. I hope it's pretty in person.

@shoppingless - I thought that is what you meant but wasn't sure. The product drying out is one of my concerns also, esp since I don't wear eyeshadow every day. I can tell you though, I made sure I screwed that top on tight! LOL

None of my paint pots have ever dried out. I don’t leave the pot uncovered very long and always close it tightly. During the holidays I wore Vintage Selection on my lids and Tailor Gray in the crease. They stayed perfectly all day. I’m super fair and can still use Painterly. However, it tends to crease a bit unlike some of the other shades. The formula varies.
