I have always used powder blush. I feel as though I have better control of the depth of color. As I get older I probably should consider switching to a creme blush. However, I'm always afraid I won't get a light blended look.

Any recommendations for a creme? And how do you apply it, brush, sponge, fingers?

Thanks.

I'm almost 69 and still use a powder blush (Laura Geller's blushes are my favorites). I don't like to wear primers, and cream blushes just disappear after an hour or so, even if I "set" them with powder. But, I still have oily skin, so that may make a difference.

I do have one cream blush, purchased recently, that I use on days I'm not going to be out for long--just trying to use it up. It has a doe foot applicator...I put a couple swipes on each cheek, then blend out with my fingers. It's really easy, and does look pretty--for about an hour!

I'm 70 and still prefer the control of applying a powder blush. I swear by Laura Geller's Blush & Brighten. The finish looks better than any I can achieve with a cream.

Nars is another brand that has good powder blush. My favorite color is Dolce Vita. I recently became a fan of Chanel's blush and have to say, although expensive it applies and wears beautifully. The color Rose Ruban looks amazing on my caramel brown skintone.

I prefer powder blush because it definitely lasts longer. I have recently bought RMS creme blushes and they surprisingly last on me.

I do spray my face after application with UD all nighter or Fixx It by MAC. I never used these setting sprays but I find they do help.

Tarte Shape Tape blush lasts on me as well. I like it, but I can't bring it with me because the tube opens up everytime I carry it in my purse.

I apply the creme blushes with a blush brush to my cheeks, not my fingers. I feel this method gives a better application and smoother finish.

@Winkk It's fun to try different products but you use whatever you like to use.

Don't worry about what you think you "should" use.

I'm 62. I have combo/oily skin. My favorite foundation is Fenty Soft Matte Powder Foundation because it is quick & easy.

I mention the foundation because some people worry that cream/liquid blush won't work over powder.

I use my fingers a lot but these blushes apply best with my Mac 159 Brush. I see that ELF has a Putty Blush Brush for $5 but my store didn't have it to try.

I wish I had an inexpensive brand to offer. I just bought the ELF Putty Blush (My grocery had them on sale for $6) in 3 colors.

It's just okay. It's a bit sheer. It feels like a balm. It blends easily. It makes my makeup fade off in a few hours.

Wander Beauty Double Date Lip & Cheek Duo. They only have 4 colors, but I love them all. I have used these on my lips, cheeks & eyes & I like it! The individual colors come with a clear gloss for lips. They have a mini set with all 4 colors & the gloss, which is the set I got. Go on fully pigmented. Easy to blend. Feels powdery once set. They wear well as lip color & last all day on my cheeks.

Nars Air Matte Blush-Temptalia gave it an F rating. I love it. It blends on easily. Good pigment. Feels powdery & lasts all day.

Nudestix has great products. I haven't tried their Nudies Blush Stick, yet, but I have used the Lip+Cheek Pencils from sets & they are really nice.

Rare Beauty & Nars Liquid blushes are amazing, also. Very pigmented. I love them.

You probably have lipsticks yeah? Try your lipstick as cream blush. Most of them work really well as blush & you can decide if you like the look or not!

I'm 65 and use both. I think Tarte makes nice shades in powder blushes. I have to be very careful with my fair complexion not to overdo it and Tarte's Dazzled works great for me. I have Nars Orgasm, but rarely use it, maybe if I'm wearing browns or rusts.

I always wanted to wear cream blushes because I like a dewy look, but I can't really remember now why I didn't use them. I used to use a Becca liquid blush occasionally. It was very intense and I had to put the tiniest drop on my finger then rub my fingers together several seconds and then I could apply by tapping my fingers on my cheeks. I tended to mostly use that on bare skin.

As far as cream blushes go, my go-to is Westman Atelier's in Petal. I apply it with a very fluffy angle brush, Sonia Kashuk 109 (duo contour). That allows me to just put a flush of color on. I use a more compact Sephora blush brush for my powder blushes. I started out with an Ulta creme blush that I picked up on sale though. They both come in tubes which make them easy to just store upright. I haven't traveled with them to know if the tops tend to come off though.

I have no problem with blush disappearing on me. I have natural coloring in my cheeks which can show through my foundadtion somewhat anyways.

I just tried the liquid (in a tube) blush from Dimitri and it's great. I bought the darkest shade and I have to make sure I only use a dot the size of a pin head. It's very pigmented and lasts all day.
