When I moved into my condo 5 yrs ago I went crazy trying to find the best lighting/bulbs for both my bathroom and kitchen. The former owners had those squiggly bulbs sticking out of open fixtures. I can't tell you how many visits I made to the hardware store switching out different combinations of cool/frosted/globe/wattage, etc. It was an expensive undertaking, and I finally found the least offensive, made a bit more pleasing by also installing dimmer switches.

Natural daylight lighting is not an option.

My vanity area, has one fixture just above the mirror which holds 4 bulbs and another fixture in the ceiling which also hods 4 bulbs. One of my current bulbs just started strobing, so it's time to get a new bulb.

I currently have all soft white lighting in the two fixtures except one bulb which is not soft white. The lumens on the bulbs in the current fixture are 450 Lumens each. I replaced the one flashing bulb with a 1600 soft white bulb. Whoa! Not sure I'd want that much light especially multiplied by 4.

So, before I buy more bulbs, I'm wondering what the best choice for the lighting would be (color and lumens). I could probably go with full spectrum iike I have in my sewing room (just one lamp), but I know those are more expensive.

I won't be changing all the bulbs out, just each as they go. That one CF white light is still going strong even though it's the oldest bulb.

LED lighting is what we like but we like it bright. Not sure that's an option with your current fixtures or not.

Actually, I thought about it and I have a makeup mirror. And now that I'll have a bit more time and a fold-up stool, I'll just try and use that even if I still have to put it on a book. So, what I'm going to do is get some of those full-spectrum Reveal halogen bulbs, hopefully in 50 W or 40 W equivalent. That way I'll have correct coloring in the bathroom without it being really bright and use the makeup mirror for makeup application.

I'll have to order from Amazon though. Lowes only has the LED ones and they aren't full spectrum. That means I'll have to wait a bit. I'm not allowing myself any more Amazon purchases until my CC closing date.
