I have no idea if this is true as I do not use this brand......some customers said that the body cream attracted spiders.

@Janey2 Yes, it's now an urban legend. Even the NYT had an article about it.

From the NYT article: dated 12/29/23

“We didn’t think we would wrap 2023 becoming an urban legend,” the company wrote in an Instagram story post on Friday. “All of our products, including our new Delicia Drench Body Butter and upcoming Cheirosa 59 Perfume Mist are free from farnesyl acetate, diisobutyl phthalate, and hexadecyl acetate.”

The statement continued: “So while they may attract a lot of attention from people, they won’t from arachnids (even though we love all creatures at Sol de Janeiro).”

The original cream (Bum Bum) smells very nice & on me this cream was better at moisturizing my dry skin over The Body Shop creams.

I bought this when it first came out a a few years ago and found there is nothing special. It's all hype, a "cute" name, and a weird gourmand scent. Big appeal to the preteen market that Ulta and Sephora are desperate to gain.

Good marketing but that's it.

It's a nice body cream. I get the knock off at either Costco or Trader Joes. Bum Bum is way overpriced.

My very unmakeup/beauty product daughter was here at Christmas and I saw some on the bathroom counter. I asked if she bought it because it is not like her. She said it was mine and she loved it and wanted some. She knew about it from TikTok.

There is a girl at work who always smells so amazing. I asked her what it was and she said it was the Sol de Janiero. know mine doesn't smell like that on me and I am so jealous.

Well, if the scent is anything like the supposed dupes I've tried, it's not worth the price. My favorite body butter scent was The Body Shop's Nut Body Butter, but it is no longer made. I would't say it was the best moisturizer, but I can always layer oil underneath. Palmer's has a couple of products with that cocoa scent so I kinda gravitate to those.

Not a huge fan of Tweak'd's cocoa-style scent. It's supposed to smell like his old Ojon Tawaka line, but for me it's not close enough to make me like it. Not really sure I'd want Tawaka scent all over my body, but I liked it in the shower. I still have some, so I can compare to know they are different scents.

I do like the Trader Joe's and my daughter adores their version. She asks for the whole line for Christmas every year.

@monicakm The Body Shop's is not a dupe. It's from before I ever even heard of this brand. But, I'm not swayed to buy a lotion/body butter due to fragrance except for the cocoa ones. I don't think the Sol de Janiero is that type of scent judging by the Trader Joes's and the Nutris I've tried since my understanding is they are supposed to be similar.

I don't wear perfume anymore, so as long as a scent isn't objectionable and doesn't hang around long, it's mostly the last thing I consider when buying a product. I don't like strong scents that don't go away which is why I buy Free & Clear laundry pods.
