for me it's patchouli. Women ALWAYS put on too much. I should know- I did it with Clinique Aromatic Elixir in the seventies. Lol When I smell it now, I can't get away fast enough 😝

@smoochy Great question! I cannot tolerate the old school 80s BIG fragrances. Poison, Opium, Alien, Bijan....and for men, Drakar, z14..

Fragrances so strong you could taste them. I had a good friend who would bath in Poison and once we got out of the car we all smelled like Poison. It was like an infection!

haha that's a funny memory😁 agree with you about the 80s department store perfumes as I called them. So artificial smelling and strong!!

A woman that I worked with ruined " Eternity" for me. I loved it when my mom wore it, it was lovely. However my co- worker doused herself in Eternity before she came in and I swear you could smell her before you saw her. This was an operating room and she never took the hint that her scent was overpowering.

About a decade ago I used to wear a men's fragrance that was very crisp and buttoned up for work. Then, one day, our AP manager, who I loathed with the white hot heat of 1,000 suns started wearing it. I had to throw out an almost full bottle. The cherry on top was that he wore enough that you could tell where he had been in the building.

that would be Chanel No.5. Nearly a full bottle that I bought last January. I keep trying it with the same result. Darn it. Gonna give it away

Shalimar. A college friend wore/bathed in it as does my neighbor. I get headaches from strong perfumes. I also don’t like anything with patchouli in it.

@Squirrels Are Trash , We had a Doc that wore so much cologne that you could smell it on the phone receiver after he used it, not for minutes , but hours.

Estee Lauder's Youth Dew....it's been decades since I was in an elevator with a lady dowsed with this noxious fragrance (that announces itself long before the person arrives). I was at work and smelled like this cringe worthy fragrance for the rest of the day. This headache producing stink bomb is certainly not "youthful".

Everyone is different as to what appeals to their sense of smell. I don't mean to offend anyone who adores this fragrance. It is just my individual experience as you may have my same expeirence with a fragrance that appeals to me. 😘

I got turned off of patchouli back in the 60's, when hippie head shops & the folks that worked there reeked of the stuff. I can remember when I was a kid, that I hated Tabu, too.

Pretty much any perfume. Give me that clean soap and water smell. Never understood why people want to smell like a flower or the woods.
