I usually peruse Mercari and EBay and frequently see used empty bottles for sale. Why would anyone want an empty bottle?

Maybe. I used to have some really neat perfume bottles. I finally got rid of them. I just don't need stuff at my age.

What kind of empty bottles?

Some people collect bottles just to have them while others need them for the purpose of holding something inside them.

I like to buy small dropper-bottles for serums I buy in larger quantities.

Many years ago, I saw a Mason jar, sealed on top, advertised to be filled with Desert Air from Arizona! AND SOMEONE BOUGHT IT!!

Back then also, I've seen USED, exhausted, out of ink, everyday BIC pens sell on ebay!

That made me realize that virtually *anything* can & will be offered on ebay.

Someone told me then that was probably offered on ebay to hike up the ebay Seller's Feedback #'s! for better future sales.

My former Avon lady collected mens aftershave that came in glass containers that looked like classic cars. Ladies perfume bottles too. Anything they sold, she bought as a "collector item". I think her husband made her quit selling because she lost money!
