I use NYX Thick It Stick It. It brushes on like mascara, no hard pressing or pulling. If you're determined to use an actual pencil, I watched a Laura Geller presentation earlier this morning and her Bravo Brows Soft Pencil Duo looked pretty good.

Shanus' thread about seborrheic dermatitis prompts me to think I might have hope to find a soft eyebrow pencil that doesn't turn my skin red during application. That's where my SD is, my remaining eyebrows. I tend to wear glasses even when not needed to hide my condition,

I like CoverGirl Perfect Blend. Ordered from Amazon after I had a few stitches in eyebrow area. I have black/brown & smoky taupe.

Have you tried any of the brow products which look like mascara? They have a wand just like mascara and kind of the same type of product but they're made specifically for the brow. Maybe this would be easier and softer on your tender brow area.

The powder will sit ON the skin and maybe cover some redness.

I use a pomade that I apply with an angle brush, currently Maybeline Tattoo Studio. I follow with Benefit Gimme Brow which has the mascara type wand, but that is only going to work on existing hair. I do use a growth serum on my brows and that's the only reason I have any tails, but I still have to extend the a bit with the pomade.
