Wen ..does it really work

I have good hair but with meds and age I've noticed some differences and before maybe it is a problem I was thinking of trying out wen. I've listened to presentations for years but never took the plunge. Would love your thoughts if you use Wen.

oh more thing what is that wrap Tracy one of the models in the show today called . Chaz said she wears it to sleep and wakes up with bounce and curl , looks beautiful . He said you can get it on Amazon ?

I've never tried Wen and never would. Many, many clean shampoos

with great ingredients for a fraction of the cost.

All hair product presentations use women with basically very good hair.

Don t fall for before and afters. I was born with and still have great, thick hair.

Before I style it, it looks awful!

All the models have had their hair styled perfectly before they go on air.

PS no product will give you THICKER hair. A stylist can style hair to give it a thicker look

but WEN will not make your hair thicker.

I invested lots of $$$$ and tried several versions, bought kits, bought gallonS, stuck with it for over a year and finally had to face the music. My hair was long at the time (shoulder length) and there were only a handful of times, if that, that I had decent second day hair. The rest of the time, the top was greasy. I had to wear a ponytail on Day Two and would not leave the house. It never became thicker, fuller, ar anything like any of the models. I eventually moved on. I am devoted to Tweak'd by Nature now and get much better results. It gives me good second day hair and I am comfortable leaving the house.

In my experience, my only results were flat hair and clogged drains. The plumber called me in to see what he retrieved and it was the Wen goop.

I have never used it - never will. A dear friend with beautiful hair used it for several months. Her hair always looked greasy, not shiny. The worst part, she developed large cysts in her scalp and the base of her neck. The Dermatologist said it was from the Wen.

It's basically trying to cleanse your hair and scalp with conditioner.

She also started losing her hair. She quit using it and everything cleared up.

Speaking from the experience of my friend. I have enough problems with my hair already.

My experience with WEN was not good. I lost hair and my hair was never clean. Dirty the next day and had to wash again. I also felt it was more of a hassle to wash my hair with WEN than with any other shampoo and it wasn't worth it to me. I've been using Tweaked for a couple of years now and love it. Won't change.

I too had clogged drains, my hair was a greasy mess and I also shed and lost about 25 percent of my hair.

That's where you get the clogged drains from. Then I got silverfish. The whole thing cost me $1,500. to fix that shower and get rid of the silverfish.

I do not recommend.

And yes, your all correct. His models have very thick hair and only god knows what they put on them before showtime.

There was a large class action suit against him because people lost their hair I believe some years back.

Wen works very well for me. I have baby fine highlighted hair. I rinse, rinse, and rinse when I cleanse. I put about a teaspoon in for leave in conditioner. My hair looks and feels the best it has ever in my life. I have used it for 17 years. I have no clogged drain and no scalp problems.

@PansyBoo I agree! My friend had beautiful hair. Thick and curly. I was hard to watch what happened to her hair and it took months and I mean months to repair the damage. This was several years ago when the class action suit was filed against him. I encouraged her to join in the suit, but she never did. Her hair has never fully recovered. It was awful and I felt terrible for her. The cysts finally did go away but they were unsightly to say the least.

I would never use Wen and wonder at those glowing presentations. If they host can exaggerate Wen, what else to they exaggerate about.

I tried it twice (a couple of years apart), both times with worse results than the shampoos & conditioners I ever tried before. My hair never felt clean & was somewhat flat. Nothing like any of the presentations would suggest. None of my hairdressers were impressed with the "science" behind it. It like conditioning without cleansing imo.

Talk to your hair stylist & try their recommendations, also you may want to look into vitamins. Also, better brands (Paul Mitchell, Pureology, Matrix, etc) absolutely deliver better results & healthier hair compared with bargain brands, that I know from experience.

I can give my own personal story....but that aside....all I will say is that the WEN models' hair never, ever, ever looks good when they do it themselves.

Also, the only WEN product I do still use is the glossing serum.

I would advise you to pass and look into other clean shampoos, without sulfates, if that is what you want or many other good brand shampoo/conditioners. Imo, Wen is a LOT of HYPE and marketing, and WAY overpriced.

I tried it over 12-15 years ago. At first I thought it worked nicely...for my hair type, good, healthy, thick, dry, wavy, shoulder length hair, Sweet Almond Mint was recommended & worked best. My hair came out soft and clean, at first, but not better than all the good shampoos I use now for some 1/4 - 1/2 the price. I tried Pomegranite, also supposed to be good for my hair type but it weighed my hair down, looked dull, didn't work well on it at all.

I normally only have to shampoo twice a week...sometimes only once...it's only sweaty workouts that make me do it twice.

Shortly into using Wen, I, like others, started noticing clumps of hair loss in the shower. Yikes. I always get a little loss, like a few strands, but this was a lot, a scary lot! Like I was sick. I stopped. Hair loss stopped, without any bald spots thankfully!

I would never use it again, and I don't recommend it. In fairness not everyone experiences hair loss, but many many complain of it. I looked into it at the time and it appeared that some people might have a reaction to the menthol in the Sweet Almond Mint. I don't know, but why bother.

There are SO many good offerings out there...again, if you don't want sulfates, Google & look into other clean brands.

Come to think about it I think it was some sort of "mint" ingredient that caused people to lose their hair. Again the proof is in the pudding. Clogged drains = hair loss.

And I was too stupid to realize it at first and thought it was my plumbing until I saw it on my brush and then the silverfish coming out of the grout. I'm a neat freak and it was just disgusting to get rid of those bugs. I regrouted the whole shower and every crevice in that bathroom.

I even tried the kid friendly one that was supposedly not so harsh. Nope, same thing but a bit less greasy.

I never tried it and never will. He is too strange for me to trust.. I also love Tweaked and use it all the time. I used Ojon also before it was discontinued.

It doesn't work for me and I think it's because I have curly/frizzy low porsoity hair.

It just coats my hair and doesn't really clean or moisturize it at all.

So I think it just depends on the type of hair you have....but after reading all the posts maybe it doesn't work for many....

Some other suggestions..

One of my favorites, recommended to me by a hairdresser friend, that I've used now for several years (along with other things I alternate with) is "Eleven Australia" brand "Smooth Me Now" shampoo and conditioner...got my last batch on Amazon, 10.1 oz, $27.00 ea. Also not cheap, but it is a cut above the average cheaper brands, for results, in my experience. My hair always comes silky, smooth, clean, shiny and stays that way for days. No build up, always beautiful results.

I've also seen the influencer "Hot and Flashy" on YouTube wax poetic about Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore shampoo and conditioner. Maybe she gets paid for endorsing it, but she really sincerely has been enthusiastic about this brand for a while. She really feels it makes her hair come out the best, shiny, tames the frizz, etc.

It is very pricey. Sometimes she runs a coupon, or recommends buying it during Amazon Prime days. I was only thinking of giving it a try because someone gave me a $100 Sephora gift card I've yet to use....each small bottle is $50. For me it's ok because washing once or twice a wk, I don't use up shampoos fast.

Years back when it was first presented I gave it a try. Didn't work for me. I thought I got the wrong formula so ordered a different one. Nope, did nothing for my hair. I also found it a pain to keep pumping to get the right product amount. What a nuisance, not to mention time consuming. Like others mentioned, my drain too was consistently clogged be it from my hair or wen. Just a hype and waste of time and money.
