It seems like a lot of ladies here are still using these. I'm not telling you not to...it's none of my business, but, just in case some aren't aware, these wipes are bad for your complexion, can cause sensitivity/breakouts and do NOT remove all of your makeup. It's easy to Google it. If you are double cleansing (I hope you are), then they might not be so bad. I'm unsure about that tho. I use my hands and a makeup remover. Huda Beauty Clean Genie...A cleansing butter infused with green tea and cherry blossom extract to melt away makeup and impurities while keeping skin feeling soft and supple, instead of greasy and dry.

“Between using makeup wipes or not washing your face at all, makeup wipes are the better option, although this is far from ideal,” said Dr Marie Hayag, a board-certified dermatologist and founder of 5th Avenue Aesthetics. “Makeup wipes don’t remove makeup completely and can leave residue on your face. Additionally, because they contain a high concentration of surfactants, they can be irritating and drying.”

The formula that wipes use to remove makeup may cause reactions, especially if you're not double cleansing. “Wipes use cleansing agents just like face wash— but unlike face wash, you don't rinse them off. This can be very irritating to the skin,” explains Goldbach.

Many common ingredients cause skin irritation or even an allergic reaction, particularly for those with sensitive skin. So far, we have irritated skin and clogged pores on the cons list for makeup wipes. Yes, they are an easy way to remove most of the layers of foundation, blush, and concealer that we apply, but at what cost? Breakouts, aging, and irritation!

Dr.Shreene Idriss, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City says in addition to the wipes themselves being abrasive on the skin, the ingredients they're soaked in aren't so great either.

"There are some that have harsher irritating ingredients in them than others," she tells InStyle. "I think the wipes themselves are irritating and can cause micro-tears because they're not that soft. They're not the equivalent of a cotton pad that you're dousing in makeup remover. And these micro-tears can be aging in the long term."
