MASCARA QUESTION.

MASCARA QUESTION. I don't remember if it was a host or vender who made a comment that she doesn't know anyone who only does one coat of mascara. So how many coats of mascara do you do? Do you let each coat dry before reapplying? Curious because there are days I only do one coat......didn't know I'm in the minority apparently LOL.

First I use a lash primer. For the mascara it's usually one coat on the bottom and two on top. If I really want to amp it up, I'll do one more coat - but that's rare.

@molly and me One coat? You swipe from base to tip of the lash once & then you are done?

Um. Is that considered one coat?

Then I probably do 10 or so.

Center of lashes, inner corner lashes, outer corner lashes & then go back over the lashes until I am sure that they are all evenly coated & look as long & pretty as they can.

Then I work on the bottom lashes, so that they are all coated, but not glumpy.

No, I don't let the mascara dry between coats.

I use 1 coat. I was blessed with dark, long lashes so there was no reason to use more. Currently I'm using the new mascara from Covergirl that is plant based. I LOVE it. No irritation and great coverage.

@molly and me - If you've never used a lash primer, you should try. It makes all the difference in the world to me. There are several on the market. My favorite is Lancome's.

I do what @JeanLouiseFinch does - Lash primer plus 2 coats on the top. Lash primer plus one coat on the bottom. For special occasions, I do more.

@molly and me For every day, I use one coat...sometimes wiping the want lightly on a kleenex to get a more natural look. Since I do tightline which makes the lashes look thicker/darker that mascara application works well for me.

One coat for me. I usually apply mascara on both sides of my top lashes. When I was younger I would do the bottom lashes the same way, coat both sides, but now I think that it's too much, spidery lashes no good on my old face.

Two coats for me. I wasn't blessed with beautiful lashes, however, DS's lashes are lush. Go figure!

I apply one coat. I understand applying a second coat to mean applying mascara on dry mascara, I never do that.

Don't you get fibers on your brush though?

I have a light complexion with light eyelashes and brows, so I only do one coat.

Any more than that and I have 'spider' lashes, which is not a good look, too dark on me.

I see a lot of make-up artists do that and I do too if the mascara looks 'clumpy on the brush.

Depends on what I want my lashed to look like or last. Day to day it's just a swipe to get some color, more if i want some volume or length. I use a primer and many coats for a night out, sometimes even with a topcoat of a waterproof one for staying power.

Two coats. After that it starts getting hard and crunchy and looking unnatural.

I buy cheap tissues...I would worry about snagging a fiber that would stick to my lashes!

I keep an empty tube. If the brush looks clumply, I insert it to get the clumps off.

That works for me.

@monicakm I never really understood what people meant by a "coat".

If it means letting the mascara dry between applications, I never do that. It doesn't look nice.

I just apply & apply until all of my lashes are black.

Sometimes I do the top & then the bottom of the lashes (On the top lashes only.) to get them really dramatic.

I love mascara.

I have to use more than one coat most of the time. I have barely there lashes. I need to start using a primer. I used to use Lancome's primer , Cils Booster+ it worked well.
