topic Mac Cosmetics in Beauty

I have Estée Lauder double wear makeup. I have a perfect match and I love the foundation. I have heard very good things about Mac Studio Fix foundation. But no matter how many times I have visited their line of foundations I never seem to find the right shade. I know I am NW, but there are so many differences between shades in that range and I still think they pull a little yellow. Even the Mac chat site couldn’t help. I will stick with my Estée Lauder but I love to check out other lines. Had anyone else have trouble with Mac shades?

@Allthingsgirly67, if possible I would suggest going
to a Mac counter or a Mac store if there’s one in your area. I went to a MAC store. Sand is my DW shade. I got a pretty good match with nc20, but it pulls a bit peachy. I’m my experience studio fix isn’t as long wearing as DW though.

I find the double wear is thicker and harder to work with, but more “bullet proof” than studio fix. IMO the studio fix is thinner but coverage is easier to control.

Lately I’ve been creating my own tinted moisturizer by adding a bit of DW to my sunscreen and that has worked well in this crazy heat/humidity. I also saw something on instagram where a makeup artist added DW to an EL serum and the end result was really pretty and a bit glowy.

I didn't have a problem with a color match I just didn't care for the finish. It looks very dull on my skin so I always add a bit of illuminating foundation to it. I much prefer EL Double Wear or Futurist in Desert Beige.

@Allthingsgirly67 Remember, Mac warm tones are identified with a C not a W.

They do tend to run a bit yellow or if I find a neutral it may oxidize. Love their lipsticks and fixatives though.

Double Wear is an easier match and that's the one I stock in most shades. It can also be sheered down with a moisturizer or a glow serum to get the type of coverage you prefer.

I agree with @monicakm that NARS is good.

Well I had to go to the mall and the Mac counter had those little containers to hold product that you can help yourself to. So I put in a generous amount of NW20 and tried it this morning. At first I put on Dior Forever matte in 3C and it just looked dull and flat and no way was I going to wear. So I washed my face and applied the Mac Foundation. I would say it is my color but I’m not crazy about the color, it is ok but I do like the finish. It is not transfer proof. I will stick with my beloved Double Wear. For those of you who find it to thick it was reformulated a few yours back. In my opinion it is not thick at all and I think people are over applying it. A little goes a long way and it can be sheered with moisturizer or Bobbi Brown illuminating balm.
