LIPSTICK TUBE. AND HOW LONG......

My favorite lipstick shade from Bobbi Brown has been discontinued. I was lucky enough to find 4 more tubes and they are going fast.

My question here for the beauty ladys here is how far down do you go with the liptstick before it goes in the trash?

When you can't put it on your lips anymore? Or do you dig into it with a lipstick brush until the very last drop.

I'm currently using a brush in a tube that has run out. I did have one backup tube which I carry in my purse, so I'm only using the brush at home. I don't think I get the same payoff using a brush vs applying directly from the tube though.

I love Dior Lip Show lip balms. I scrape out the bottoms and transfer to a little pallette I ordered on amazon. If it's your fave, you have to get the last bit! LOL

@Icegoddess I agree with you, when I use the brush I don't get the saturation like when I'm putting it on full strength from the tube.

I think I need to go to Nordstrom and ask someone at the counter to find a similar shade.

I can't stand when they discontinue something especially a best seller.

It was bobbi brown in "nude". Been there for years and years.

I posted a few weeks ago about how my Rimmel lipstick shade was discontinued years ago and I have bee " living " on my stash which is down to 2 new tubes.

For a while I had the color duplicated by Three Color Specialists and I can always go back for more of the same color.

However, what I am now doing is taking the almost empty tubes and with a little makeup spreader, I scrape the part that is deep in the bottom of the tube and place it in an empty eye shadow container. Then I use a lip brush to apply this salvaged color as a base coat: it gets into all the nooks and crannies beautifully.

Is it an online thing or a store? I'm down to my last tube but have held on to the 3 that were running low.

It's time to find a match and I just can't seem to find it on my own. They replaced it with a "pink nude". Looks nothing like what I had.

I even called Bobbi Brown and asked why they discontinue product's that have been best seller's for years? There wasn't really an answer from the operator. lol. (as if I expected more - but I did ask her to pass the message along to the power's that be).

PS. I think I own the same gold lip brush you have.

And my favorite lipstick was "Mauve" from Prescriptives so I sympathize. So often this happens.

Great repurposing of the packaging!! I am a always saving "good little containers" like this, too. And those old school Clinque compacts are pretty durable.

I must have several older posts on the company that creates duplicates of lipstick colors and foundation.

Name: Three Custom Color Specialists P.O. Box 983

Provincetown, MA. 02657

If they already had a request for your color, they will make it up from their library.

If this is the very first time the color has been requested, there will be a higher cost. Subsequently, future requests by you or others will be at their regular price.

You will get 2 tubes of the finished product. Tubes are in a simple black case. ( Simeone posted this month that GMA had a segment on for a similar service but it included your name on the tube....really ! )

The duplicate will not be " creamy " or tasty or perfumed.

To submit your sample, simply retrieve a small sample from the bottom of a used tube.

You really need to go on their website...be careful in how you type it....I recall a copycat type website.

BTW, that lipstick brush is very old. I just got a modern one that clicks to push out the brush: all in one piece !

I love lipstick but I am fickle...not loyal to any one shade. I'll use one for awhile and then move on because there ar just so many to choose from. I have a lipstick brush that I enjoy using. The application is so precise.

@Pink123 If I were you I'd dig until the last smidge is gone. Buy some of those small long handled spatulas from A.

I use it all up, I've used a lipbrush since I was a teenager. For me that's the best application method.

@Pink123 You know that medicine strips with M, T, W, etc.? I have several that hold my discontinued lipsticks and ones that were almost gone . I did dig them out with the handle of a baby spoon. Remember to refrigerate after the transfer to help them get really solid before use.

What was your favorite BB lipstick? I miss all the shimmer shades.

Thanks @Trinity11 I will. I just don't get it. They do this with classic's in clothing too. ugh.
