Now that I'm goung grey....

The grey that is growing in is kind of silvery. If you are grey or going...what kind of shampoo to use to brighten your hair up? Any advice would be appreciated.

@MoJoV I use Jhirmack. Don't know if it's good or bad for my hair, but it keeps it from getting yellow, and people have commented on how good my hair looks.

Just wanted to mention that while the color-depositing shampoos are great they can be drying.

Eee gad I'm never going gray! Oh sure I have my share of gray hair but I will never stop coloring it. So I'll never know how gray I really am. I look relatively young and chipper with my blonde hair pixie and have no intention of looking 20 years older than am.

@MoJoV I'm almost totally silver gray with almost no dark hairs anymore. I've never used anything but Sauve Shampoo that's supposed to promote shine, which it seems to do. Don't use any heat, no hair dryer or curling devices on my hair. I think heat yellows hair.

I don't use a special shampoo on my grey hair but I have never had yellowing hair. My hair has gotten drier so now I use a conditioner.

My gray is coming in quite nicely now. It's mostly in the front and it's pretty silver. There's no yellowing and it's silver, not white. I love it. I have no plans to use a brightening shampoo.

@MoJoV Congrats! I hope you love your new silver stands. I only use a purple shampoo every other month. If left on too long, the lightest hair can take on a violet hue. I've also found that some purple shampoos can be drying, so condition well.

I also wear a hat in the sun to prevent yellowing.

@ID2 People know how old you are and not just because what color your hair is. Sorry, but they do. They just know you color your hair.

Funny story about the purple shsmpoo. My stylist got a new shampoo person. She didn’t Know my hair grabs that purple tint. When my hair was being dried we realized my hair had a purple hue. She offered to fix it but I didn’t
have the time. When I went to work the next day several of my customers thought the coloring was intentional and I was super cool! I chuckled for days. The next week she fixed my hair and it was back to normal! 🤣🤣

Currently I'm using Cherry Almond by Aveda. I love it! My hair looks conditioned, not wirey or dry. It is healthy!

My "grey" hair is a shiny blonde color. Stylist told me clients pay to have their hair dyed this color. When I was young, I was a tow head and it looks similar to what I have now. Maybe this is what posters refer to as "yellow". My husband likes it...and I like the health aspect of no more hair color.

@MoJoV I have tried to get the purple shampoo to tint my hair, but no matter how long I leave it on it never has.

I have used different brands & I use Sebastian Dark Oil Lightweight Conditioner after that.

Joico, Matrix, Biolage... they all work fine & have never tinted my hair. Darn it!
