Is anyone believing this cr*p with all the strange ingredients in beauty products? Yesterday, DOLL 10 introduced her "mushroom serum". I was floored!

Companies are desparate for sales or must think we are so uninformed that we'll fall for all this and purchase.

I know some of you swear by your snail snot, but now mushrooms?

Thoughts?

Mushrooms are not surprising, since they are a source of beta glucans. Been in skin care for a long, long time.

However, I do not listen to sales pitches, since I don't watch or listen to Q very much.

I believe there are so many women desperate to stay young, they will believe anything and try anything. My derm says my skin is in great shape and to keep doing what I'm doing. I'm all about simple. Cleanse, moisturize, and use sunscreen during the day. I'm 69 and was raised close to the beaches at Malibu way before sunscreen. I'm so lucky not to have skin cancer.

Mushroom extracts contain bioactive ingredients which can help with skin aging, inflammation, and hyperpigmentation.

There are many ingredients derived from fungus as well. Kojic acid is one of them. Fungus is our friend.

Mushroom extracts have been used in skincare for quite sometime, years ago I used a moisturizer from Origins that included mushroom and was calming to the skin, they now have an entire line of mushroom products.

Snail secretion has been used for repairing and healing skin for years and years.

I don't feel cosmetic companies are desperate and somehow working against us.

We can easily research information about ingredients to find what may be beneficial for our skin.

We have to use our brains to learn if something or someone is being deceptive.

Makeup and skincare are constantly evolving. With today's technology and studies, anything is possible.

I have switched to a plant-based Vit C and I have had zero irritation. Any other kind I have tried I had to stop using it because of irritation. Mushrooms are beneficial in your diet so I am not surprised that have found skincare benefits.

I forgot about Origins. I used them years ago and they were pretty cutting edge back in the day.

Wow, judge much, @Shanus ? You, of all people, who doesn't want to be judged are judging others.🤦‍♀️ I happen to use some Korean skincare, namely a galactomyces essence and a snail mucin essence. I can't attribute my good, youthful, clear, firm, plump, hydrated skin to one or two items, but these are just a part of my routine. Topical skincare, diet, and supplements all work together. And for being 66, but not looking it, I'll keep doing what I'm doing as long as I can.

I have been defending Snail Snot for the longest, knocking it off is easy until you have an adult acne situation & willing to try anything besides antibiotics. Sometimes simple remedies like snail snot does do the trick. I spread the word whenever & wherever I can.

There are plenty of ancient remedies tried & true in Ayurveda/Homeopathy. Not saying all of it is great but much of it has been used for centuries & is only catching on here in the West. Younger me called it quack medicine but now I am more open minded and do my own research & know better.

@Desertdi exactly. All these potions and they are expensive every month. They will never do what a laser, filler, (please try RHA - it let's the face move and is much more natural) Flawless in motion. Lasts a long time too!

It add's up at the end of the day. How many thousands of dollars do you spend on these potions by years end?

If you are afraid I certainly understand of course. But make sure you at least microneedle like @Sillimee does so the stuff at least gets through your pores.

Most of it stil does not get in in my own humble opinion. I just use plain old "cerave" moisturizer. (most ofyou know what I do)

And I've had endless talks to aeshtetician's about the subject.

I use it for collagen induction where longer needles are used. The shorter needles are used to exfoliate and prepare the skin to absorb products easier. I don't use short needles b/c they don't induce collagen. Long needles go deep enough where it can be a problem if you apply certain products. In that case skin should be left alone to heal for at least 48 hours before applying active ingredients, sunscreen or cosmetics.

Nah, I do not think @Shanus is being negative at all and does believe in many beauty products to a degree.

But for most of them for me? nope, no way. I agree with her and some things might help but we all know what "gold standards' are and it's not mushrooms or this snail business.

The best thing is do to your homework and get a "gold standard" doctor, lololol.
